The food is great. Atmosphere is very dated and old, but it was kinda charming. We had the flautas and steak ranchero, both were well seasoned and hot. The salsa was amazing. Service was courteous. Definitely try this hole in the wall if you are near Benson.

We'd had a good dinner experience a few months back, so went back for a lunch. Wife had a chicken taco salad, I ordered a chicken chimichanga with no sides. The chicken in both dishes was dark meat and it seemed they stretched that bird more than they should. It tasted like meat scraped right from the neck or back, with bits of bone and gristle ground in, and might have been frozen a time or two. It's one thing to attempt getting extra mileage from a turkey or chicken in your own kitchen, but it's a disservice to feed it to a customer. The air conditioner blasted the entire meal, making it a chilling experience and difficult to hear across the table. Choose your table carefully. The worst part was the service. The waitress took long gaps between appearances, . despite there only being two other occupied tables. Once she'd served us, she didn't return until we were ready to leave. Unfortunately, my wife decided to order a pastry for dessert, which she soon regretted (spongy, flavorless and served with packets of honey & hand sanitizer on the same plate!!). She never once cleared dishes, brought extra cutlery, offered refills on tea or replaced the single napkin accompanying each dinner. Like I said, our first visit was much better. Pretty sure it was the same cook this time around, so either they're stretching their budget beyond what's advisable, or it's just a roll of the dice as to what your experience will be.

Recently catered at Safeway, and two of my coworkers got Food poisoning one hour later. I Do not recommend this place at all. Food not kept at proper temperature apparently. In the past, I convinced my mom not to go here, and glad I did now or She may not be here.

Foods pretty good and we went on a regular basis. The Mexican food is also good but the owner started to charge $2 for a handful of chips. The other Mexican restaurants in Benson do not charge for their chips. Unfortunately we no longer give Eighty six cafe our business because of this. Others we know have stopped going for this same reason. Bad move on the owners part. Costing you money.

We’re a family of four on a Spring Break road trip, and we stopped by the 86 Cafe for a late lunch. The Chimichangas and Taco Salad were fresh and delicious, but what truly made the visit memorable was the warm welcome and outstanding service from Amanda. We also enjoyed chatting with some friendly locals who shared great tips on nearby attractions. A wonderful small-town stop with great food and even better hospitality!
