What a good find! Ignore the 3 star rating. Giving it 5 stars! Give this gem a shot! Great food and service.

I SO wanted this place to be good. I even had a recommendation from someone who goes here all the time. The food--not good. We ordered a variety from the menu so we could try a lot of our favorites. The crab puffs--they were SO SWEET! Why are they sweet?! And the wonton wrappers were thick and chewy. Okay, whatever, no biggie. Then we moved on to the vegetable egg rolls. They were mostly wrapper and very little tasteless filling. The "hot" mustard--which could have helped--was not hot. We also tried: General Tso's chicken and Honey Garlic chicken. They tasted the same. Mostly like honey and nothing else. And the pieces were so big--not bite size. The Kung Pao chicken was weird--weird variable sizes of chicken and WAY too much celery--cut into large pieces. All the sauces were thick, sugary and gloppy. Why do they use so much sugar! In everything! The white rice was good...

I bought a lunch today so, the cream cheese wang tang was to hard, plus the small portion is not for a familiar dish...really disappointed whit this place

We have been ordering from J Chen once a week since the pandemic began as a way of supporting local restaurants. We had never eaten here prior. We think they are great. They do all the typical Chinese dishes well and are quite good with Thai food as well. They are currently open for takeout only.

The food here is great and the service is warm and welcoming. I always order the dinner version fried rice, shrimp and vegetable, chicken and vegetable, chowmein, veggie spring rolls, and crab wontons. Yummy!

I ordered Pad Thai. It was sub par, but the portion was absolutely MASSIVE, which made up for any lack it may have had in taste or quality. The price was fantastic for the amount of food. If you are hungry or need a meal to feed 7, J Chen Pad Thai is just what you need!

We ordered take out (that's all they're offering presently with stupid covid), and were overwhelmed with the large portion size of our meals. We had their fried rice and vegetable eggplant dishes. It was our first time ordering. Flavors of food were good, but not exceptional. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. It was fresh and good. We will definitely try some other dishes soon.

I recently tried another Asian food place in CC and it was terrible! I will gladly wait for J Chen to reopen before having Asian food again. Their portions are generous! The food is always cooked perfectly. Our order is always correct. We've order from J Chen many times and its DELICIOUS!

Pepper Beef. I’m sorry it was just really really terrible. I didn’t ask for a refund but there’s no way I would come back. I am not exaggerating or lying to you when I say it was the texture of dog food and the same flavor. So sad about it, really you seem like nice people but your food is so horrendous. Maybe call Gordon Ramsay.

I have been going here for years, Even before the new ownership. The food is good but not great. We go there for Carryout And it's convenient. The atmosphere inside is dark. They are still only doing carry out at this time. You get plenty of food and the prices are fair.

I'm new to Arizona and this was my first (and last) time ordering from this restaurant. The woman who took my to go order was pleasant. I was disappointed when I arrived home that there was no sweet and sour sauce for my egg roll, so apparently you have to request it. I took a bite and, while it was warm on the outside, the inside was ice cold. Without sweet and sour it wasn't worth heating up, so it immediately went in the trash. The rest of my order was correct but also inedible. The Satay chicken skewers were totally hard and dried out and more closely resembled chicken jerky. The peanut sauce tasted like peanut butter with water added to it... They joined the egg roll in the trash. The house special chicken had a very thick breading and was deep fried. The menu did not describe it as being deep fried, or I would not have ordered it. In their defense I could have asked when I called the order in. I threw away $26 and at that point it was too late to order food elsewhere.

Great food, fast service. A little more expensive than a chain but it's worth it!

It's a typical Chinese restaurant, but good for a typical Chinese restaurant. Fried rice is my favorite and they have good fried rice, not too greasy. We moved about 10 miles out of the area, but still come to J Chen occasionally when we are in the mood for a traditional Chinese takeout meal. There are great Thai, Vietnamese, and sushi restaurants in the area. If you're looking for orange fried chicken, pork fried rice, or general tso's J Chen is the place to go around there. Also my husband loves the walnut shrimp.

For the most part, this place is my go to for take out. We typically get the same things...egg rolls, orange chicken (SO good!), beef broccoli and moo goo gai pan. They were closed during covid so we tried another Chinese take out and it was terrible. Veggies were mushy, as was the orange chicken. I'm sticking with J. Chen!
