From past visits, the food has gotten better. Wednesday 3/8 I entered and stood at the register for over 10 minutes before a waitress appeared and told me it would be another couple of minutes. The main dining area was about half filled so there were seated customers who were not attended to for over 10 minutes as well. Having guests wait over 10 minutes to be seated is a poorly run business. Regardless of staffing the business must function properly. I won't be returning as there are plenty of options.It's interesting how every response from the owner is a criticism of the customer. How about taking responsibility for the failures at you business. There was no one to say anything too, we never observed a single waitress as we stood waiting. And waiting 10 minutes does show patience.This is not the only review referencing unrealistic wait times.It may be time for the owner to take a moment and realize the shortcomings of their business. This is how a business improves not blaming the customers or society.

Finally made it here!Was delicious.Well marked gluten free items on the menu. Dairy took some asking. But there are some sides, that are dairy free as well.3 BBQ sauce choices. The baked beans were fantastic!Dietary restrictions: Gluten and Dairy free

I play a league from here, and the place is great. Many pool tables, dart boards and great food. Service is OUTSTANDING. Andrea is usually our server and could not ask for better or more attentive service. Glad this is my home restaurant.Thank you!!!

Very cool place for pool, darts and beer! Went several times the past couple months and tried 4-5 different entrees that I didn’t have any complaints about other than the sweet potato fries my wife ordered and we so overcooked she just tossed em. The server was friendly each time… when we talked to her….. the problem was she had over 20 other people to serve and our beers sat empty for over 15 mins at times. The pool side was packed as well, and they only had 1 server there. I’m sure staffing is tricky but for it to happen everytime I was there seems to be a pattern of understaffing. only 2 stars because so many of the other reviews show long waits and bad staffing as well so it clearly seems to be an issue they are ok with having.

The food is very tasty, unfortunately the service is very slow, mainly the restaurant side. We were there for almost 45 minutes last night, and no one even acknowledged us. Granted, it was busier than the last couple weeks, but the service was pretty slow those days also. Watched a family walk out because they weren't getting helped at all and overheard the two tables behind us complaining also because it was taking so long to get any help. Had we not been locked into games on the dart boards we would've left also. Hopefully they get things worked out it has potential.

We used to regularly eat here as the food was excellent. For the past ≈6 months, they were out of something every time we went. The last time we went, the chef and waiter have never heard of their Yard Bird Phat Bread, an item they are famous for, I was informed it would be removed from the menu soon after. The time we went before that, they were out of chefs, there was no chef working either due to quitting or striking, so they were onlx serving drinks. The food is great, but the turnover rate among employees is very high and management is a joke.
Well done, Phat Turtle BBQ! My friend and I came in for an early Sunday dinner, and the service was spot on! Promptly greeted, always kept beverages full, outgoing, helpful with the menu, could not ask for more. I started with a 20 oz Schilling's cider which is a crisp, refreshing and not so sweet draft cider. Companion had a Coke. We ordered the cow candy to start, and although I have had this dish as one of my needs on a platter when you order it as an appetizer it comes in a sizzling hot cast iron skillet. Cow candy is gooey and juicy and amazing as usual. I ordered my standard brisket with sweet potato fries and a creamed corn that was almost like chowder. I think these are the best sweet potato fries in town, and I was super pleased to find the ranch dressing was homemade and delicious this time. My companion ordered the ribs and was only able to finish half. But she did eat all of her potato salad and mac and cheese. The Mac was creamy shells and she was very impressed. I really think this restaurant is far superior in food quality than the latest and greatest thing to open at the mall. The brisket is tender and moist, even the leanest parts are superb. The ribs just fall off the bone, slow smoked to perfection. I'm very happy to recommend this restaurant, and I will be bringing my giant teenage barbecue eating son next time!

The bbq here is amazing! I tried the comfort plate with chicken, potato salad, and Mac n cheese. All of which are fantastic and then also tried the creamed corn on the side. The place is great for Chiefs games and playing pool as well.

Some of the best BBQ I've had in Arizona. Really cool spot a few minutes from downtown Cave Creek. 8+ pool tables you can play for $10/hour. Can't go wrong with the brisket. Pulled pork is phenomenal. Creamed corn and mac n cheese also great. Not a ton of sauce options but this place checks off all other BBQ boxes
