It's a restaurant. A nice restaurant. A date night restaurant. A night out on the town restaurant. Atmosphere, service, vibe....A++. One exception, the food was good; however, some of the items were served cold. The fries on my plate were cold and the entree on another plate was cold. They have been open for three weeks and everyone was working to make sure it was a good experience. I will go back again and I expect the issues with the temperature of the food will have worked itself out. It was a great time and I believe anyone would have a great time and good food at this place.

I normally don’t post negative reviews, but this experience at J. Alexander’s was disappointing enough that I felt it was worth sharing.

For a restaurant at this price point, both the food and service were far below expectations. The hamachi was poorly cut and presented. Chef Alan - seemed like he is the executive chef- stopped by and asked how we were liking it, we gave him our honest opinion and there was no apology or offer to fix it. Our filet mignon medallions were ordered medium but came out extremely well done, and the broccoli that should have come with the dish was missing.

Unfortunately, no one from the staff or management ever checked back on us, so we didn’t even have an opportunity to share our feedback while we were there.

Overall, the service felt inattentive and the experience didn’t reflect the level of quality you would expect from a restaurant like this.

Everything about our experience at J Alexander’s in Chandler was phenomenal. What really stood out was the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. From the moment we entered the doors till we left, everyone greeted us with smiles. Our server, Savanah, was great, as well. All made great eye contact and really knew how to treat a guest. The food and drinks were delicious but I’d go back even if the food was just average because of the great service!

First time here for all 5 of us and we were all impressed. The minute you walk in, you feel you're in a first class steakhouse. The menu isn't complicated with too many choices and we all thoroughly enjoyed our entrees. From start to finish, we were awed by our waiter, James. He explained the specials so creatively that we ordered based on his descriptions. He was very attentive. We all said we'd come back just to have James wait on us.
We all had steaks or prime rib. All very flavorful and scrumptious. One had their Steak Maui and he said it was the most succulent, tasty marinated steak he's had.
We started with their calamari....delicate, yet full of flavor and their sashito peppers...... very generous portions. The way they present their loaded baked potatoes is so clever.
You need to try this place.
You won't be disappointed.

We visited with high hopes for a new local spot, but unfortunately, the experience went downhill fast. While the crab dip and trout were actually quite good, they were the only highlights of a very disappointing meal.
The service was lacking: some drinks took forever, water was lukewarm, and our server didn't know some of the side dishes. We had to ask for some items multiple times, and one friend didn't receive her salad until after she’d finished her entire entree.
As for the food, the 'salmon sandwich' turned out to be a processed patty rather than a fillet, the chicken was incredibly dry with very little sauce and both the rice and coleslaw were flavorless. To top it off, the fries were hard and overcooked, and the carrot cake was the most boring version I’ve ever seen, with truly poor presentation.
We explicitly asked to have the tab split by couple based on what we actually ordered, but they just did a 50/50 split. Great decor, but the execution isn't there. We won't be back.

This was the best dining experience I have had in years. Dropped in for lunch and was floored by nonstop world class service. We had at least 5 people working as a team seamlessly to tend to all of needs including the manager who took a personal interest. I had the classic burger and it was hands down the best restaurant burger I have ever had. We ordered the key lime pie for desert and were blown away. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Cannot wait to go back soon for a full dinner visit. 10/10

Superb!! Five-star experience!

My husband and I have had the absolute pleasure of dining at J. Alexander’s Restaurant multiple times since its opening in the Valley of Arizona late last year, and each visit has been nothing short of exceptional!

J. Alexander’s has long been a personal favorite of mine—I have a deep and fond history of dining at the restaurant in my home state of Michigan, where we are both from. My husband has also immensely enjoyed dining at J. Alexander’s since the restaurant opened in Chandler, and I had the pleasure of introducing him to the experience.

Experiencing the Chandler location has been especially meaningful, as it has carried forward the very same consistently elevated standards I’ve always associated with the brand.

From the moment you walk through the doors, the atmosphere reflects refined comfort—warm, polished, and inviting—paired with consistently outstanding cuisine.

Every dish we’ve enjoyed has been beautifully presented, expertly prepared, and rich in flavor, showcasing a clear commitment to quality ingredients and thoughtful execution. It has quickly become one of our most trusted and favorite dining destinations in Chandler.

General Manager Archie sets the gold standard for excellence. We had the pleasure of meeting Archie on the evening of 2/3/2026, and his leadership was immediately evident. His presence is professional yet genuinely welcoming—attentive without ever feeling intrusive. He took the time to personally engage with us, ensuring our experience was seamless and enjoyable. Archie’s passion for hospitality is unmistakable, and it is clearly reflected in the confidence, consistency, and polish of the entire dining room.

Manager Seth exemplifies true guest-centered service, and we have seen him many times throughout our visits. His attention to detail and consistent professionalism elevate the experience beyond expectations. Seth has an incredible ability to anticipate needs and manage the dining room with calm precision, all while maintaining a warm and approachable demeanor. His steady presence adds a reassuring layer of excellence that makes every visit feel thoughtfully managed and genuinely welcoming.

It was a pleasure to meet our waiter, Tanner, who made a memorable impression during our dining experience on the evening of 2/3/2026. Knowledgeable, personable, and impeccably timed, Tanner provided exceptional service that enhanced the entire evening. His menu knowledge, thoughtful recommendations, and relaxed professionalism made our meal feel effortless and enjoyable. Even during a single visit, it was clear that Tanner takes great pride in delivering high-quality service, and his attentiveness truly stood out.

J. Alexander’s Restaurant in Chandler has masterfully upheld—and honored—the high standards I’ve come to love over the years, and now my husband has joined me in that same sense of admiration. Thanks to leaders like Archie and Seth, along with standout team members like Tanner, the restaurant delivers not only superb food but a consistently elevated dining experience.

It is a restaurant we confidently return to and wholeheartedly recommend to anyone seeking beautiful décor, comfort, and professionalism throughout their dining experience—along with excellence in both cuisine and service.

It is clear that Arizona was eagerly awaiting the opening, as the restaurant developed an almost immediate and loyal clientele. It is always a pleasure to see a vibrant, full dining room, yet we have never had to wait to be seated.

We highly recommend it!

We rented a private suite for a birthday celebration Saturday night and it didn’t disappoint. Cameron was our server, he was wonderful. We had 2 toddlers with us, Cameron handled our family chaos like a pro, never forgetting one request and just an overall smooth gentleman. Thank you!

My husband and I are from Overland Park KS but have lived in the East Valley of Phoenix for nearly 13 years. We thoroughly enjoyed dining at J Alexander's in Overland Park and have missed the excellent food and warm atmosphere at the Overland Park location. We were delighted to discover a J Alexander's had opened in Chandler and booked a reservation for February 15th for dinner. The atmosphere at the Chandler location is quite different than Overland Park but still very nice. We were seated and our server was young but courteous and not overly attentive. My husband ordered a cheeseburger and I ordered Alex's Salad and a baked potato. Remembered the Alex's Salad as delicious and very filling. The salad is not listed under starters or as a side on the menu. But when it arrived at the table, I was disappointed. The flavor was great, but certainly not an entre sized salad and at $14 dollars, I expected an entre. The potato was fine, however, it was cut oddly exposing most of the potato so it became cold quickly. The cocktail I ordered was delicious!
My husband enjoyed his cheese burger and fries. Said it was cooked as he had ordered it.
Next table over were a group of elderly people who were speaking very loudly. (Not the restaurant's fault but it just added to the disappointment.) Also the small table lamp was not operating- not monumental but again taking away from the evening.
Sadly, don't think we'll be returning.

Tatianna and Tanner were absolutely amazing — attentive, friendly, and on top of everything without being overbearing. They made sure our table had everything we needed and really elevated the whole dining experience.

Archie, the general manager, went above and beyond to accommodate us and made us feel genuinely welcomed. It’s rare to see that level of hands-on hospitality from management, and it definitely did not go unnoticed.

Exceptional service all around — we’ll definitely be back!

I had been really excited to try this restaurant for the past couple of weeks but was completely let down. When we were sat at the table regular water was brought (I promise this means something). We ordered the Hong Kong Shrimp….it was probably the best thing we had all night. After placing our order I noticed that a table had a bottle of Saratoga sparkling water. When the waiter returned I asked what would it take to get a bottle of Saratoga and the response was “All you have to do is ask”. Well had I not seen it I wouldn’t even know to ask. This was never presented as an option, just the standard glasses of water. We asked for lemon and lime twice to have along with the water. And then our dinner arrived. The sushi is something you truly should stay away from. I have had better sushi from Sprouts in any given day of the week. My daughters California Roll had to be remade as it does not mention any sauce on the roll. But my spicy tuna roll was the complete opposite. And when I was brought the spicy sauce it was more mayo then sriracha or whatever spicy sauce they were choosing to use. While so am grateful for the carrot cake and key lime pie that was given I just expected more. Especially for the total that was presented at the end of our dinner. And the free deserts that were given were from our server and not the manger on duty Seth. I would expect the apology for all the send backs/corrections to come from him and not the server. I don’t see a return to this restaurant in the future and seeing as I’m on this side of town quite often it is quite disappointing.
