Good food, but needs a thorough cleaning and workplace training.Came in right after opening to find half a dozen staff just standing around chatting. Crumbs and dirt everywhere, bar not wiped down and sticky. While eating, half the staff were shouting at an ongoing sporting event.Needs some serious work.Sushi was delicious.

Great atmosphere. Sushi not great tonight. Service was not great. New owners. Black rice gone, only white now. It’s great for an average dining experience.

Nothing to dislike. The sashimi salmon is the best in the country and the all the sushi is the best. You would think with such fancy and good food, it would take time to serve, but no. I ordered a miso soup and timed it, and it took 18 seconds. Best restaurant everEdit: bring back the black rice or me and my 17 relatives will stop coming

Another great stop at Kodo for lunch today. We came right at opening and were seated right away. We ordered three different rolls as well as edamame, gyoza and miso soup. Everything came out quickly and looked amazing. The flavor of everything was great as well. The only thing keeping it from a perfect review is the service after we received our food was horrible. No refills or the chance to ask for anything else because we didn’t see our server again until we received the check. The sushi is always on point however and worth a little drive. The restaurant is bright, clean and great for large groups or alone.

Nice atmosphere, clean and food was decent. Pretty pricey spot. The service is not great. The server never checked on us after receiving our food, so no refills on water and never asked if we wanted another drink. After the server dropped off the check, she came back 10 minutes later asking if we could pay and waited for us to put our card down. This was before even closing time. Then 10 minutes after closing someone else (a male) asked us to leave. It was wild and I’ve never experienced that ever before at a restaurant. All staff were Japanese so maybe that’s okay in their culture, but that’s the first ever being asked to leave like that. We also had food left on our plates and was never offered a box. I wouldn’t come back because of the rude service and high prices.

This is a Korean owned sushi restaurant that pretends to be Japanese. The sushi is good, but there is an elderly waitress with a bad service

My family and I used to come here once in a while if we don't feel like driving all the way to Scottsdale for sushi. They were quite pleasant before as far as the sushi experience goes...although my husband never really got used to eating sushi with purple rice. The color never really bothered me, because the rice was properly cooked at least. However, my last visit was completely disappointing. I ordered online and picked up. Many people don't know the importance of rice when it comes to sushi. Rice can totally make or break sushi. Their sushi rice for the past couple of times have been mushy and unpalatable. Their fish is always subpar but edible, but this time it smelled fishy. I threw out half of the order and didn't bother. I'm giving them 3 stars, because most of the time if you dine in, their sushi tend to be better. This place is more of a sushi roll kind of place. Not really good enough for nigiri or sashimi. An ok place for a neighborhood sushi. The restaurant is spacious and service is usually fine. After my last experience though, I will not return. I guess I have to just drive further. :(

Our table spent $300+ people for 6 people... food was really 1.5 out of 5. Entrees was 3 out of 5. The honey chicken was something youd find in a generic chinese buffet. Pretty horrible. Sushi was 0 out 5. Ordered a total of 10 rolls, 1 or 2 came out fresh. Mostly bland. I was excited to see their menu mimicked Harumis in downtown Phoenix, which is why we initially ordered so much but couldn't be more disappointed. Maybe also worse off, my wife and I bill came out to 112 after their automatic gratuity, i gave the waitress $120 and she never gave me change. Never asked for it but pretty presumptive

So, gave three stars over all because of what I’m currently witnessing…. I sit at the bar most of the time when I come in here, always has been a good time. But I’m sitting here, and one of the chefs making the food is on his phone, with his gloves on, then puts the phone down, itches the bottom of his nose, then goes and makes an order. Finish’s that order, grabs his phone again, then itches the back of his ear, then finally puts the phone down, and then grabs some more food…. Not sure if this kinda turned me off from here? Always has been great food and great service, but watching this whole thing, is gross…. I hope that phone wasn’t with him when he was taking a number 2 in the bathroom?!? ???

Some dishes came out not hot. Some dishes came out somewhat late, after all other dishes were served. The honey chicken was mediocre as well as the broccoli beef. Overall, the food was good, the service was great and the atmosphere was good. It was expensive.
