Went to Recreon on a whim during a vacation in Gilbert (Phoenix). It was so good returned the next week with skeptical relatives who were also impressed. Service was also very good.

While I gave 4 stars for food, service and atmosphere, there were some disappointments. Prices were crazy expensive. Chips, salsa & guac cost $12, when chips should be free. And..the chips were stale, so we asked for fresh, but again were served stale chips. A margarita was about $14-15 for a little short glass, like you'd use for an old fashioned. The food WAS good, but just average. We won't return.

The best thing about this place is the atmosphere. The service is terrible. My husband ordered a beer, then two rounds of drinks came out, still no beer. He has to ask about it 3 times and still nothing. Finally 30 min later it came out. Orders came out wrong, barely ever saw the server, had to hunt down our own silverware and napkins. This place is a pass.

I'm in town to visit family and always stopped for margaritas. We decided to stop in and have dinner. I had the baha burrito and it was good.The food and the service was awesome. Our waitress, Ariana, was awesome. I would definitely come back next time in town.

This place is so unassuming from the outside and we were pleasantly surprised when we walked inside the back patio is super cute. I have high expectations on Mexican food and this was great! The salsa is made in house, the fajitas were great and the churro dessert was amazing but the flan was incredible! Shout out to our waiter Eric

I've always wanted to eat here and last night was the night! Sat outside now that the weather is finally beautiful again and was pleasantly surprised to see that they had the most inviting patio outside. Our server, Tyti, was phenomenal-- very attentive and friendly! Got their HH marg and a BYO taco plate-- husband said he preferred the carnitas over the birria. I really enjoyed my visit and would go back!

Malaya was wonderful. The food was great. The drinks were great and I love the outdoor atmosphere. I’m glad I found this place place.
My man Bruno is by far the best restaurant manager I have ever come across, the bar is high now because of bruno. He made the atmosphere very welcoming, the food was absolutely amazing aswell.

Ugh, I really wanted to like this place but it was such a disappointing experience. I think the restraunt has a very aesthetic concept, and the food looked good which is why my fiancé and I chose to go here on our anniversary.
My fiancé ordered his entree & I ordered mine. We had some chips, salsa, and elote. My fiancé got his food and then they brought the sides for my fajitas…. they never brought my fajitas out.. I’m not sure if they got delivered to the wrong table or were just forgotten about. Either way we told our waitress we’d just take the check and to just cancel them.
We never received an apology or any resolution to fix the problem. Safe to say I don’t think we will be coming back here.
