My friend and I had lunch there last October or November! The food was Amazing and the crew was Awesome! I almost cried when I found out about the fire. I hope it will be open in mid October this year for another lunch and perhaps a dinner also!

I was in a somber mood while coming down the hill from the Granite Mountain monument to 18 firefighters who died fighting the Yarnell fire (look it up), but I was hungry none-the-less. I came upon a not-very impressive dive near Congress, AZ and decided to stop. Best decision ever! I'm from New Mexico and I know good GCCs! I walked into the place, dominated by a very large horseshoe bar with a few table lined up along the walls. Ambience is not their middle name but it was clean and smelled good and the waitstaff (1 barmaid/bartender) was friendly and quick. I ordered the aforementioned green chile cheesburger and as she walked away I mentioned a throwaway request - may I have it medium rare? Sure, she said. Not too long after a wonderfully gooey creation arrived at my place at the bar. I always cut a big juicy burger in half so that it will survive the eating of it. Oh my God! Medium rare - I could hardly believe it! Jack cheese, grilled onions and plenty of real green chile drooled down the sides of the bun onto the plate. It was heavenly and the best GCC I've ever had, except maybe at home. I would make this a destination place even though it's basically in the middle of nowhere. Before I left, the chef wandered out of the kitchen. He looked like your basic wrangler right off the range. I showered him with compliments and he received them matter of factly; he's probably heard it before. This place is not to be missed if you don't mind going out of your way. Fieri needs to know about this place.
