Casa Serrano Mexican Restaurant

Solo trip, stopped here for lunch. I had been here many years ago pre-pandemic & it was good. This visit also quite good. Danielle promptly brought out chips & salsa (mild & hot). I didn't bother with the mild & the hot was excellent. There was some sort of lunch special going on with free vegetable soup with entrée which was fantastic. I had a chile relleno & enchilada combo which was quite good. Danielle also brought out a bean dip with the food & it was delish. The house margarita was ok, but next time I'd get Patron or a better tequila. Be advised management here charges a 4% fee if using MasterCard or Visa (that was also in place across the river in Laughlin, NV @ Pioneer Casino gift shop). I hope this is not a disturbing trend as most people I know use some sort of reward credit card when dining out. I know in the past some establishments had a fee for AMEX because their fees were higher to restaurants or they don't take AMEX at all. When the bill came it listed a PRE-TIP AMT that not only included the subtotal, but the tax + 4% fee on top of that! Hey management this is confusing & probably screws your waitstaff. Common procedure is to tip off the total PRIOR to the tax & most certainly not your padded extra 4%. That's not the servers fault & is annoying. Food, ambiance & waitstaff nice. Tacking on 4% to use a credit card is tacky.

The inside is beautiful, the tables are so pretty! I wasn't too impressed at first with the chips and salsa, different that what I like so I was apprehensive but our server was exceptional!!!! The food came quickly, the portions were huge and the food....omg...its the best Mexican food Ive ever had!!! Its been days and we're still talking about how great everything was. We will definitely be returning!!!

Third time I've ordered Albondigas, in 3 months, what, you can't even make soup? So, downhill results since,till Oct 5th, when the cooks used the pickled veggies to make the Albondigas soup. Vinegar! I also ordered Steak fajitas and realized they gave me grilled carne asada( the shrimp they got right). After the server forgetting 3 times about the Soup, normally served first, I get the soup when the server brings the ticket. Guess who's never returning. I tipped well, but that was a goodbye gift!

Casa Serrano never disappoints. Great food. Friendly staff and strong drinks. The parking lot can be tricky if you go at a busy time.
