On Tuesday, 1 July, my wife and I stopped by to have breakfast at the Space Lodge in Gila Bend Az. We indulged in omelettes, pancakes and great coffee at a reasonable price. We highly recommend this restaurant!

Prices are up substantially. $7 for a fountain drink, $14 for grilled cheese, $19 for a burger.
Sadly, the long-time owner of the Space Age Restaruant passed away taking all common sense with him. Apparently the popular family dining road stop in Gila Bend wants to go out of business.
The newly appointed manager came on board and seriously increased prices. Where Zinburger, the gourmet burger capital of Phoenix has $15.75 for its most expensive burger, the new price at Space Age Restaurant offers an undescribed Angus burger for $18.99.
It's not possible to speak to whether food quality has been reduced with the price increase -- including $6 for diner coffee -- but the once popular dining spot was completely empty on a Sunday noon hour. In the past, the parking lot would be filled at lunch on Sunday.
The restaurant is obviously being run by someone without a lick of restaurant moxie. This is no Sam Fox restaurant. It's a funky, kitschy roadside diner in a small Arizona town between San Diego and Phoenix. With the flying saucer on its roof, the mid-century setting is cute as a button, but four sets of guests came in and left after looking at the menu.
It's worth a drop in and look around to see the space murals, the Millky Way floor, and the 1960s-style booths and chairs. It's not worth the prices upwards to more than $20 for diner food.

The prices are outrageous for the food quality. My husband and I got an apple pie each. It wasn’t warmed properly, some parts were so hot and others were still frozen. There was also some white stuff on top of what looked like dog food pebbles, I’m assuming it’s meant to be part of the crumble. $20 for shit pie seems ridiculous to me

I had the double Jupiter burger.
The burger was good, though it appears to be frozen patties. The service was good, my only two complaints are that they close at 1:30 p.m. which seems very early to me. And while I was in the bathroom, the light kept turning off and of the two soap dispensers, only one had soap in it.

Have pasted by this interesting place for a few years now. The planets finally lined up and it was time to give it a try.
Pulled up at 1:15 pm and “OPEN” sing was on, and a notice of new hours of operation. Door was locked, lady at the counter—and that was that. People inside, doors locked. Who closes their restaurant at 1:30, and then locks their door at 1:15??? What a disappointment

The very despotic staff does not even attend and very reluctantly

Driving thru Gila Bend. Wanted some food but tired of the fast food chain that all taste the same. Stopped here and this place was fantastic. Super clean good prices and lots of parking I was in a motorhome and there was no issues parking. Food was very good
Stop by and see for your self
Parking: Pulling your toy box. No issues to park lots of space motorhomes. No problems.

Came here to see if they were any good. And they are better than the hype. We had the Jupiter Burger, and it was delicious. The fries are like Rally fries from back in the day. Great food. Worth the trip.

We have been stopping off here for the last 8 years coming back from Mexico. Sadly we pulled in today and they were closed. They had closed at 1:30 under the new hours that were posted on the door. We were one of 4 vehicles that all pulled in at the same time hoping to eat. Nope. Sadly with the amount of time it takes to get here from Rp we will never be here before they close. Guess we will have to find a new cool roadside attraction/ diner to eat at. Not cool guys.

Not bad but also not anything to drive just to visit. When we first moved to AZ we saw this on a show like diners drive ins and dives so we came to check it out. That was a very long time ago but memory says it was much better. Again not bad food, just sort of average, but the service was amazing.

This restaurant is such a tourist trap. The prices are outrageous. The kids breakfast is around $8 and consists of either 2 triangles of French toast or a few small pancakes and a tiny strip of bacon or sausage. To add 1 egg is an extra $3! My son’s “Belgian” waffles were soggy and rancid, literally sour. The server (who was not helpful or friendly) offered to bring my son a new meal of scrambled eggs and bacon. The eggs were not cooked all the way. We were charged for the new meal but given a first responder discount on the bill which did not even cover my son’s 2nd meal. I would avoid this restaurant especially with kids. After paying for this way overly priced meal, the kids were still hungry as we walked out of the restaurant.
