I do not see how this place stays in business. Lunch today was almost inedible. 3 chicken enchiladas…chicken so overcooked, sauce was limited but not very tasteful.. Definitely won’t be back.

We love this place and go at least once a week. We had friends in town and wanted to take them to my favorite Mexican with the yummiest guac!!! And she googled it before and said “this place has terrible reviews” which shocked me. I had to leave a positive review to my favorite Mexican restaurant. We love it here. Everyone is always so friendly and kind. Food comes out quickly. The staff is friendly to each other. Emma makes the best guac! Each server does it different. You won’t be sorry. Trust me. Try it.

I had made a reservation for 6 people at 7 pm. In my reservation, I requested a specific outside table. When all 6 people in my party arrived at 6:50, I was told that someone else had reserved that table for 8 pm. I stated my party was all present and we would be done by 8, yet they still said no! Justin was the Manager who made this decision, and yet never even came to address this issue with us in person; he sent a young girl over to inform us. We begrudgingly sat inside. Now, for the food: my wife and friend ordered tamales, and we were told they had just enough left for their order. Mind you, it is 7 pm on a Friday, and this is a Mexican restaurant. About 20 mins later, they came out and said they had run out of tamales. My wife switched to an alternate dish and asked how it was prepared, but it came out totally different than as described. When almost done eating, I walked over to the originally requested table, and it was still vacant. I would say the restaurant was 25% full (if that) on a Friday night. After all these issues, I can now understand why it is so barren in the heart of downtown Gilbert. I will say the drinks and salsa were tasty, and our server was amazing, but that is the extent of my praise. As a Manager, I would have liked Justin to at least advise us in person of the situation. I will not say that I will never be back, but my impression of Barrio Queen has gone down substantially, and I will not suggest it to anyone from out of town as I once did.

The purple / pink washed out hair can’t confirm color bartender was so rude. There is a reason joyrides bar is full and yours is dead on a taco Tuesday !

I'm m not sure what has happened it used to be perfection every time we ate her but our last meal was full of salt as if the lid fell of the shaker and all the salt fell in.

Barrio Queen in downtown Gilbert is a fantastic spot for vibrant Mexican food and a fun atmosphere. The flavors are bold and fresh, the margaritas are excellent, and the vibe is lively and welcoming. It’s a great place for a casual dinner, happy hour, or a night out in downtown Gilbert.

Highly recommend!

My guest and I enjoyed a lovely meal at Barrio Queen (Gilbert). I had the vegetarian chili relleno (decontructed) which was the right level of heat. My lovely dinner companion had the chicken mole, which she enjoyed (she had had it before in a previous visit). Highly recommended for first dates!!!

We frequently visit Barrio Queen in Tempe and Scottsdale and we love them but what a difference management makes! First time at Gilbert location and our group of 4 were initially the only people there on a Sunday afternoon while the rest of downtown Gilbert was busy! First I noticed that the entire floor was dirty with crumbs and pieces of what appeared to be napkins.. Then their frozen Margarita machine was broken and they had no cocktail straws. The food was actually great and the regular margaritas were just okay. Our server seemed distracted and not very attentive. Maybe an off day. Next time in Gilbert we will go to Joyride which is a block south and the BEST for food and they have exceptional margaritas!!

We love Barros queen and have been many times. But this last time we went our fajitas were highly over-salted. I'm sure it was a one time mistake, we usually have a great experience
