I was looking for something casual on a Sunday night and I found it. The vibe was fun and relaxed, great music and happy hour at 8pm. Customer service on point. I got the Nashville hot meal! 🔥 For me spice was just right, definitely made me sweat. Fries fresh and hot, also the Mac n cheese was yummy. It had a white cheese sauce base, and crumbled cheez its on top. Highly reccomend if you are looking for a little, and juicy chicken! I'll be back

The food was ABSOLUTELY delicious!! All of the staff, including the new owner Robby, are so friendly and kind! They greet you as if you have been friendly forever, and deliver the food with a smile! Great food. Got the 5 piece tenders, came with fries, coleslaw and two Texas toast for the same price as canes. Though its taste better. You can even get the tenders spicy. Great place to come have chicken, beer and watch the game. Hidden gem

I was scrolling late last night, and stumbled on a random Instagram reel, with Shaq holding up a chicken sandwich the size of his head haha and I thought, ‘That looks so good, too bad it’s probably only in Vegas or L.A.’ I didn’t even realize Big Chicken had broken ground in Arizona. I pulled it up on Google maps, thinking the next time I go to one of those touristy spots I’ll check it out, and too my happy surprise one is in downtown Gilbert, hiding in plain sight,,, I showed up the next day hoping it was good like the video.
I ordered the barbecue sandwich with onion rings and cheese curds (don’t judge me), and it wasn’t just good, it was one of those bites that makes you sit in your chair for a second like, wait a minute. The chicken breast was thick and juicy, it felt like they had a chicken farm or something, it was so fresh, didn’t have that normal refrigerated flavor you get, from average chicken places.
The onion rings inside added that crunch you hear, but was so juicy (I hate it when they’re dry, this one was super fresh, it made it nice when you’re eating the sandwich it doesn’t give you that cotton mouth feeling), and the cheese curds squeaked the way they do when they’re fresh, not sad little frozen nuggets.
I ordered the mini caramel vanilla shake thinking it would just be an add-on, but it was a little cloud of happiness . The caramel swirled in well with the whipped cream, and the vanilla had that based, farm-fresh taste that makes you wonder if they smuggled in a cow out back (this is Gilbert after all lol) Thick enough to be serious, smooth enough you don’t have to collapse a lung trying to sip it, and they use those nice big fat straws, I hate the skinny kind you get at most places.
Finally there’s the sauce. Raising Cane’s sauce is good, but feels kind of like training wheels compared to this one, Cane’s is sweet and tangy, mild, safe, this was the version that felt more grown up and sophisticated . Smoky, peppery, balanced, it made the fries taste like they’d been cooked over an actual fire pit. It’s the kind of sauce that makes you consider stealing extra cups of it, and keeping them in your fridge like treasure. I had to fight the urge of looking like a savage, from licking the plastic part inside lol don’t judge stop judging OK you can judge.
The best part ? The owner was out there talking with everyone, shaking hands, cracking jokes, making sure plates hit the table hot. You can feel the pride in the place, like this isn’t just another fly by night restaurant, it’s his spot and you matter there. It made the whole vibe feel more like a neighborhood spot, think soulful’, not soulless chain.
And the parking was easy, just pull in behind the building, there were a bunch of spots (I came on a Wednesday evening).
Seeing that Instagram reel felt like spotting a unicorn. Finding out it’s in Gilbert? That was the silver lining. If you’re even a little curious, go. You’ll walk out the door already planning your next trip back. I’m really happy. I tried it out, I don’t normally leave reviews like this, but it was such a good experience, I wanted to.
