We came here for lunch and I ordered the bento box with teriyaki chicken. The chicken was BAD. It tasted like it was microwaved. I mentioned to a worker walking by and her response was you must not like white meat. I actually eat white meat all the time but this tasted bad with a spongy texture. She finally said her cook must have over cooked it and then walked away. I found out later she was the owner. So disappointing. She did nothing… didn’t offer to recook it… nothing. Not even an I’m sorry. I’m not picky and I couldn’t eat it. Definitely will not be returning.

Nice waitress. Good attentive service. Katsu soup no flavor. Tuna roll had very little tuna inside. They charge for a small condiment of chili oil ! OMG! I won't go back just because of that pettiness. Tuna roll not cheap either.

First time stopped in tonight was recommended by salesman at Living Spaces. Gal was so sweet. Good was overpriced and wasn’t worth what was served. Chicken teriyaki was few square pieces of dry flavorless chicken charges $16 for then because I ordered fried rice was $2.50 and was a small scoop friend in grease no egg and no flavor. Was very disappointing and $50 was not what we expected to pay for what we had. Crossed off our “to try” list.

It was VERY smokey.
Had a reservation and still had to wait about 20 minutes to get seated. The chef at our table didn't turn on the exhaust while cooking and it made for an unpleasant dinning environment. He was funny and entertaining though.

This place is not far from where I live so we decided to check it out since there aren’t too many good sushi restaurants in this area. We ordered the Ryu Roll, the Salmon roll, Philly Roll, Lobster Roll, and Dragon Roll.

Service was good. Food came out fast. The atmosphere is casual but the restaurant feels spacious and comfortable.

The fish quality is pretty poor, even for Arizona standards, and the prices are too high when compared to other places in the valley of similar price with much better quality.

The Lobster Roll is a decent size serving but at a whopping $32 I expected much better flavor. We didn’t feel it was worth that price.

The salmon rolls were very disappointing. 90% rice with a tiny salmon center. Definitely not worth it.

The Ryu Roll and Dragon Roll were ok, but nothing amazing. I liked the overall flavor of the Ryu Roll and felt it was one of the better value meals for its portion size but I don’t know if I liked the tomato they add to it. It’s easy to remove it but feels like an odd choice for that roll.

Overall the place is ok. But honestly, for the price and quality, I would probably opt for sushi from some of the grocery stores around instead. I’ll update the review once I try the Teppanyaki next time. Maybe that’s where the value is.

Kid-friendliness: Kid-friendly, lots of families dining there.

It was waaaay hot in there. They need to fix there AC I will not go back because of how hot it was in the place. They also need to put away all their boxes or stuff that are just in corners and they need to clean it up very cluttered and messy for a restaurant and dark and old looking

Has a lot of potential. Our waitress was great. We ordered two house salads, beef yakisoba, spicy tuna roll and Philadelphia roll. Nothing fancy but I thought the kitchen had trouble. The salad looked like bagged salad. But tasty dressing. The rolls came out one at time in like 10 minute intervals. The yakisoba was okay. Two groups of clients that asked for teppenyaki but got turned away even though there were three open teppenyaki tables. I may return not sure?

We have tried literally every tempayaki restaurant in a 50 mile radius and Ryu has the best experience we have had! The staff is beyond exceptional and the owner is the sweetest thing! The food is outstanding and although pricey you definitely get what you pay for. We have paid more at some of the bigger more know establishments and no one has been able to best Ryu. This is now the only place we go to. When they say dinner and a show they mean it!

Dietary restrictions: They are always cautious we our dietary limitations

Parking: In a plaza so we have never experienced a parking problem

Kid-friendliness: The Tempayaki chefs always go out of their way to give special attention to our grandson (8 now but we have been going since he was 2) making him feel like he is part of the experience!

I kid you not, it was 86 degrees in this restaurant. We asked staff if they could turn the ac on since we could see that the thermostat was 86 degrees in the building. The food was okay. My suppose to be cold sushi was warm…probably cause it was 86 degrees in there. Thankfully, I ordered some noodles that wasn’t that bad that I felt safe eating. Won’t be going there again

First time here and it was just okay. Seemed like ac wasn’t working or maybe too crowded but wasn’t fun in July. Got the steak and chicken both were overcooked. Also if you don’t have enough people in your party they sit other people down in order to fill tables I don’t have a problem with that but seemed like our bigger party was overlooked by the smaller party. Won’t return

My favorite place for Teppanyaki, service is great did not get 5 on service because when we go 2 or 3 and no one joins our table it seems like we get forgotten for bigger tables. Other than that it is great, sushinis amazing and the Teppanyaki in my opinion the beat I've tasted. Chefs are very friendly and seem to add new moves once in a while.

I’ve been coming here for years and it’s amazing. The owner Ann is such a hard worker and is so kind. I was diagnosed with celiac 7 months ago and have come here a few times with no issues. And their imitation crab is gluten free, which is great.
