I've been coming here for two years for their menudo & it's one of the best here in Phoenix. The beautiful thing about it is that there is no wait time for Menudo. I guess that's why I'm just now putting a post about this restaurant. I was being selfish & wanted this place for myself but this establishment needs to flourish. This competes or beats the other well regarded mexican restaurants here in Phoenix. I've been coming here once every weekend for the past 2 years after work.
Everything I've ordered here has been delicious. Definitely recommend this joint.

Overpriced. Breakfast burritos are overcooked, dry, no flavor. The sauce is really good, but the cheese was hard, the meat was not good quality. The breakfast burritos were way overpriced at 9.00 a burrito. I couldn’t finish mine, because of the flavor.
We love this little place! Authentic comes to mind along with flavorful, homey, perfect! Service is prompt & attentive! If you are a fan of authentic Mexican with hospitality I highly recommend El Metate Mexican restaurant. We've been visiting for several years now.
Kid-friendliness: I've dined with children in the establishment many times. There's a TV and an entertaining game .
Wheelchair accessibility: Would need help with the door but I am certain than counter staff or another customer would assist! I am handicapped though not in a w/c, I am able to navigate just fine. And there's a drive up window!

My daughter found this restaurant on Google maps so we gave it a try on Cinco de Mayo. Everyone loved their food and we bought the small chocolate cake with an Oreo on it and he loved it. El Metate is our go-to restaurant for Mexican food.
