Absolutely incredible food! We had the crispy rice w/ spicy tuna, toro sashimi, A5 wagyu roll, salmon, ocean trout, shrimp roll, and uni-wrapped in wagyu-topped with caviar. Everything was decadent!
2 stars is generous at best. The food is not worth the 2-3 hour wait. We were told it would be a 20 min wait, but actually it was an hour. When we get seated, it was a long wait for our canned and bottled drinks, then forget about our appetizers. The service was unacceptable in any setting. We were missing our roll and appetizer. If you are short staff, let your customers know ahead of time and be honest because several people left disappointed due to be seated and not served. Don’t seat if you can’t feed.
Not worth the wait!!!

We went in for dinner last night for the first time and absolutely everything we had was amazing. The staff were friendly and our food was served pretty quickly. Great food at good prices too! 10/10 will be coming back for sure. The toro platter they had was soooo good.

This is a hole in the wall kind of place but everything is perfect. They have fresh fish and the chefs recommendations were on point. Strongly recommend the Yellowtail Serrano. ?

A small venue in a strip mall, but inside, it is a pleasant trance into a sushi Centric world. The chef and staff are friendly and helpful, and there's a general conversation among the patrons about the fish and the world of sushi that is very welcoming. if you want to sit at a table and ignore all that, there is plenty of that option as well.

Shaun is the owner and head chef. He is so passionate and that shows in the quality of his food.
Icho Izakaya has an intimate vibe where you’re treated like family (or better than family lol)
I highly recommend trying their Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna and just get whatever their special is because it’s going to be delicious.
I definitely will be back!

Im scared to write this review because i don’t want this place to be so busy it’s impossible to get a seat but this place crushes.
In terms of fish quality, this place is as good as it gets at this price point and their sushi is a level above my normal staple, harumi. I had some sashimi, salmon tataki, the sea bass appetizer, toro roll, and Vegas roll and they were all excellent.
It’s going to run you ~$50-100/person pending what you like to get but the price is well worth it and I’ll be coming back here. The atmosphere is casual (hence them labeling themselves as an izakaya), and it is a pretty small restaurant, but i thought it was fitting and the perfect place to get some food and drink with friends.
Service was very good!

This sushi restaurant offers an enjoyable dining experience, particularly for those seeking well-executed, traditional dishes. Although the space is small, and the seating can feel a bit cramped, the focus here is undoubtedly on the food. The calamari stood out for its freshness and unique presentation, departing from the standard ring format. The sushi rolls were both creative and true to classic styles, offering distinct flavors that cater to traditional preferences. Service was efficient, with dishes arriving promptly. While the menu may not feature an abundance of unique options, it is an excellent choice for those who appreciate high-quality, classic sushi.

I used to think Harumi had the best fish in Phoenix until I went to Icho Izakaya. Incredibly unassuming in its location, just like all of the best sushi restaurants I used to visit in LA. I had the Toro, salmon, and a couple other pieces of nigiri. Thrilled to find a very high quality sushi gem.
