Well, 3 stars for the service and the food... buuut, it is owned by a drug trafficker according to what the US Treasury Department published. Check the note in Zeta Tijuana.

Atmosphere: 2

I’m local, have been coming to Habaneros since they opened. Here’s why I won’t be back: Served stale from the bag chips, had to ask for a napkin. Served a margarita with no tequila in it. Served a barely warm burrito without the advertised guacamole and sour cream, had to ask for silverware. Waitress went next door to Pancho’s Design Center, presumably to ask for a job. Had to go to the counter to get a to go box and my check. Hopefully my waitress understands why I didn’t leave a tip, and hopefully the owners understand why I won’t be back. Unfortunately, this scenario seems to be routine in Tubac.

Absolutely one of the weakest margueritas I’ve ever had. It actually tasted like frozen water. My friend had the watermelon margarita and it was no better.Waitress said she thought it might be too strong. Food was mediocre. Maybe we just stopped on the wrong day but I’d definitely stay away from the margaritas

Horrible food, equally bad service. They charge extra for everything, salsa, guacamole, chips, etc. the worst is DO NOT GO HERE. THE FOOD IS TERRIBLE, AND THEY CHARGE YOU A FEE IF YOU USE YOUR CREDIT CARD, BUT NEVER TELL YOU. CALLED AND WERE VERY NASTY.

Went for an early dinner with our Niece 4:30 5ish area, one other couple in the restaurant. Service from our waitress was good, though when ordering a meal, I would think that good business practice would be to keep the chips and salsa filled as you waited for dinner, no asking from our waitress if we wanted more. I do question the name of the restaurant, we like spicy and there was very little mention of any Habanero with any of the meals. I ordered the Burrito which said came with a Habanero cream sauce, it did come with a cream sauce, but, if it had Habanero in it, it must have been minuscule. There was a woman that seemed to be associated with the workers or restaurant sitting by the entrance who was vaping, not sure why you would do that by an entry and exit area, strange! I would say the chef did a good job, as the food we ordered was good.

Place was very empty the entire time we were there. Two other tables were used. Servers were pleasant. Chips and sasla were ok. We both got the chicken fajitas. They were tasty enough. I did not want green peppers and originally the server said that all peppers were mixed in. But, the cook was very nice and gave me just red peppers, which is what I wanted. We were served three tiny fajitas which wasn't enough. So we ordered a few more, no biggie. Anyway, it was fine overall.

We arrived about 6:30 PM and the place was packed but we found seats at the bar which worked out nicely (closer to the beverages). The waitstaff and bar tender were really busy but friendly. our meal was possibly a bit slow to arrive but excellent. I had a Quesadilla with Carne Asada and Pico, very tasty. My wife had a taco assortment, fish, pork, beef. There were no leftovers!

We tried Habanero's about two years, and were severely underwhelmed. Lackluster food and indifferent service made us decide that we would not go back. But a year ago we moved to the area, and since we were now local, decided to try it again. Same results. Now it is a year later, and we decided on a whim to try the place again, in the hopes that the place had improved over the past twelve months. Sadly, it is still the same mediocre restaurant. We tried the chicken fajita plate, and were surprised that it did not come with some type of topping such as sour cream or guacamole. We've had fajita plates all over the southwest, and have never seen that. Oh well ... perhaps that is something that is normal to S.E. AZ. The rest of the food was underwhelming in flavor. Service was also underwhelming. Our waitress was much more interested in talking with other employees than taking care of us. We had to stop the other waiter as he was walking by and ask him to let our waitress know that our drinks had run dry, and that we needed refills. He was nice enough to do this himself. Overall a very mediocre experience, and since there are two other good to very good Mexican restaurants in the area, we won't be back. Well... who knows - maybe a year from now.

Conchinita pibil! It's one of my favorite Mexican dishes and the street taco here didn't disappoint. (The pork is available served several ways). Chips and salsa were served - fresh, crispy chips and a very nice salsa which had enough heat but wasn't hot. The house margarita was quite good. I wasn't real hungry, so I ordered the chicken tortilla soup (no meat) and the street taco. The soup (broth) was tasty, though not the best I've had. It's served with nice chunks of fresh avocado, shredded cheese and tortilla chips on the side. It's a rather large serving so I didn't eat all of it, but I enjoyed what I did consume. Hubby was hungry for a chimichanga with beef, enchilada style. He said there was a LOT of delicious shredded beef inside. His only disappointment was that there wasn't a river of sauce, just what was poured over the chii which had soaked up most of it. Overall, a good experience with just one waitstaff who did everything except cook the food.

Service attentive enough but lunch didn’t come out for 60 minutes. Was charged for the first order free chips. Was not advised 4% fee for using credit card. My fish taco was fishy tasting. Ordered a second round of beer/wine due to slow service. That would have been comped at a nicer restaurant. At check out told the cashier our concerns and he blamed it on the owner. Told him let owner know and he just shrugged. Not going back. Cook at home folks! I can do better than sloppy customer service.

At a table of four the server could only get 3 meals to us. The one without a meal waited until all others had finished and then we were told that they did not have the meal for the fourth person. It was a chili rellano that was ordered! Imagine a Mexican restaurant without a rellano. In all fairness the server did offer any other meal but we had waited so long we just left. They also gave us a 10% discount on our bill. We will never go to Habanero's again!!!!!!!

We discovered Habanero’s 3 years ago while visiting Tubac. We are seasonally visitors to the area and wandered in at lunch time. We quickly discovered that this isn’t your typical Americanized Mexican food. They use a variety of flavorful spices and combinations in their dishes. Love their guacamole, homemade salsa with just the right amount of kick and hands down my favorite cheese crisp with green chilies. My friend is a very good cook and she was amazed by how good their mole was. We make sure we enjoy ourselves frequently while in southern Arizona.

Way too salty! The salsa and my beef chili relleno were way too salty. Husband's red enchiladas were dry. Service was slow and we were charged extra to use a credit card. The only thing good was the beans and rice.

This is the second time we dined there. Both times we were there about 4:15. Service was prompt, meal delivered in a timely fashion. The food was hot and delicious! They make their own mole and it is the best! Chips n salsa were good. Staff were very friendly and attentive. If you like Mexican, this is the place to eat!
