The Blacktop Grill (Award-Winning Street Food)

Update since my last visit: The Owner Gabe did great in reaching out and offering for us to try our order correctly. It went great, my aunt got her correct tacos which were the Vampiro Steak tacos she enjoyed them and my bacon jalapeño popper quesadilla with chicken tasted great as well. Even accommodated my request to have the jalapenos on the side so that I could manage the spice level on my own. Definitely would recommend those two items and even their sweet potato fries! Support your local Marana restaurant ☺️

Went to try The Black Top Grill for the first time part of trying to support the small business for Marana Dine & Discover along with trying to support the owner as well since he is married to the esthetician I go to. It was my aunt, child and myself that visited today 6/26/2025 around right when they opened 11am. To begin, we took a minute to figure out the menu and liked that there was a bigger printed version of it. Then getting our order taken was great, the cashier was kind, answered any questions we had about the menu and interacted awesome with us. It came down to the food that we are very disappointed about. My child had a kids quesadilla combo with regular fries which came out good. I ordered a bacon popper quesadilla and asked to add chicken to it and the cahsier said she could do that, when I got my quesadilla it tasted good but I noticed there was actually no chicken added but I didn't notice until I got home to eat my left overs which was a little disappointing since I asked to add chicken. What was the most disappointing is my aunt ordered the Vampiro Steak Tacos and at the time we didn't know that what she actually got was not the Vampiro Steak tacos they were actually the steak ta-ketos tacos because we noticed the cheese on the outside and inside but we didn't know it was the wrong ones since it was the first time there. Only figured out they were the wrong ones by going to the Instagram page and seeing what the vampiro tacos were supposed to look like. Even with that her tacos had barely any meat and the other ingredients in it, where more than half the taco was just the cheese shell. We are super disappointed in the quantity of the amount she got in her tacos even with them giving her the wrong ones versus now seeing how much they put in the ones we have now seen on their Instagram page. We're not sure if we'll visit again just because it was not worth the money for the amount of food and mistakes made in our first trip. I am hoping that if we do go again that our order will be made correctly and the quantity is more fulfilled.

For a 8$ hot dog to take 1hr is ridiculous and they didn’t offer me any compensation for waiting this is my first experience here and I wouldn’t come back I paid 21$ to wait and for mediocre never coming back

Food is creative, tasty, fresh, and awesome value! Today I had the vegan tacos with oyster mushrooms and vegan elote. Enough food for 2 peeps. Absolutely delicious!

Blacktop Grill is known for their award-winning Sonoran hotdogs (the elote dog and classic Sonoran were both 🔥), but the real sleeper hit? The tacos.

The steak ta-keto comes with juicy grilled steak, avocado cream, and a crispy cheese shell — honestly better than some Michelin tacos I’ve waited hours for.

They’ve got vegan and keto options too, and the street corn with chorizo was so good.

Run, don’t walk — this spot deserves way more

We tried The Blacktop Grill for lunch today. We had Baja Fish Tacos - they were okay, basic American Fish tacos, needed less coleslaw, and the tortilla chips were fried harder than I would have liked. Tortilla chips were thicker than I'm used too but that wasn't a big deal. We also tried the Vampiro Tacos, which are steak tacos, the steak had good flavor but was on the fattier side. I wish they had more salsa choices and a salsa bar for dressing tacos. I will give them another chance – I’m interested in their Sonoran Dogs.

My partner and I ate from the Black Top Grill food truck yesterday and the food was amazing. I'm not even a corn eater, but the dang street corn has made me do a switch over! We had a quesadilla and Vampire Tacos and both had so much flavor and packed with ingredients. I especially loved that sauce on the tacos and need for you to bottle that up and sell it so I can use it at home. Everything was so flavorful and hit the spot. We will be eating at the food truck and need to go check out the restaurant soon.

Sonoran dog was really good so was elote dog. Toasted bread was a plus. They serve beer too.

The restaurant is very humid and hot. I ordered food to go and got the totally wrong order...couldn't eat it. And, the elote corn was horrible...not the same as I've had before.

The Vampiro tacos were AMAZING!!! Green salsa was the bomb!! I will make this one of my favorite restaurants for sure!! Update: Blacktop Grill is still my go-to spot!! Every time I try something new it becomes my favorite. Please check this place out and you won't regret it!!!

We held a birthday party there. It is a small restaurant but they did a great job with our large party. Everyone loved the food. Three of us were on Keto and two vagans and we all found many options. The food is great. Ta-keto (cheese shell tacos) were excellent. The Texas quesadilla was also great. The vegan chorizo was loved by our vegan members. The service was very good. They were very accommodating to our large party. Definitely going there again.

Great vegan tacos. You know they are great when your meat-eating friends would love them. Great texture and taste. One of the owners was at the front taking orders and he was incredibly friendly and helpful. Worth checking out whether you're a meat eater or vegan. Something for everyone and excellent!

Me and my family stopped by and had the popper hotdog, vampiro tacos, Taco salad and chorizo and cheese fries with steak. We asked what they recommended and they said everything was delicious and she wasn't kidding, everything had so much flavor. We'll be coming back.

Delicious ! They offer a delightful vegan menu bursting with flavor as well . Really enjoyed my blue oyster mushroom tacos ! We played board games with the family , total vibes . The hall is lined with the story of the restaurant, a good read for sure . Can’t wait to come back .
