This place is an absolute disgrace. My girlfriend and I drove far out of our way from Las Vegas, only to be told the cavern was “closed early” the moment we walked in — at 2:30 PM, while tours were clearly still supposed to be running. The front desk woman didn’t just turn us away, she announced it rudely in front of everyone, then slammed the gate in our faces like we weren’t even human beings with no apologies. We were shocked and disgusted.
Even the small museum area was locked up — no chance to see a single photo of the caverns after wasting our time and money to get there. To make matters worse, they tried to pass off a “power outage” excuse, which, after reading other reviews, seems to be a common trick they use.
This business is misleading and scamming people into traveling out here under false pretenses. Save yourself the frustration and stay far away.
Absolutely awesome! Our guide was beyond incredible!
Really cool trip underground. Had a good time with the family. It's a bit of hiking though so be prepared. No food or drinks are aloud.
We stopped here on our way to las vegas from mexico... it was affordable and beautiful caverns in the middle of nowhere..
Nice Inn offering a comfortable stay. Accommodating, with available amenities for anyone traveling route 66.
Visiting for the first time in almost 6 years. We had a wonderful time! They are perpetually welcoming scientists into their place to continue doing testing and updating the history of the cave. I appreciate the ongoing exploration! We learned there are explorer opportunities where you can go deep into the caves with a guide!
We got the Slothy Pulled Pork sandwiches and the Fry bread taco...they added chicken because i don't eat beef. It was fresh and yummy! The iced tea eas fresh brewed and refilled often. I am so happy to see they are still in operation. With some clever social media marketing the potential for more visitors is huge with such a beautiful and fairly easily walkable cave!
A must see anyone passing along the 40 54 degrees year round 21 stories beneath the earth.
To be honest, having been to multiple spectacular caverns in several states, we were not expecting too much.
We were pleasantly surprised by this experience. Easy walk with just a few slightly challenging up and down hills on the path. Entry and exit is by elevator.
The guide was informative and friendly.
A unique part was we did the combo and had lunch at the bottom, 200' down in the cavern. Bison burgers were great especially with having to bring everything down from the restaurant up top. They did make a mistake on my meal, but corrected it within minutes, which is great considering someone had to get it from the restaurant at ground level!
Some interesting facts about this dry, dead cave were shared AND there is a 'hotel room' at the bottom that you can book for the night. It is in a large cavern, with two queen beds, tv, dvd movies, and even a turntable for music. Booked up a YEAR in advance!! There is even Room Service!
We had a great time on the Standard tour! Jovita was amazing and passionate about the cavern’s history and facts. We’ll definitely be back for the Explorer tours!
We had a great time. Thank you
very good food, fun cavers tours and your packages. stay a night in, in the cave sweat 210 feet down
Not much to look at from the road. Typical tourist attraction that's struggling for income. Pretty rough around the edges, unfortunately. The cave itself is meh... there are much better caves elsewhere.
We booked the standard cave tour and lunch combo. If you are physically capable, I recommend taking the standard tour, as it shows you much more than the shorter one. Our guide was new to the job but very friendly. We finished the tour just in time for lunch, which I had been looking forward to. Here is our experience:
Tips are mandatory when making the online reservation.
Each lunch comes with a drink, and we chose diet soda. We were each given a mini-sized can. No water was served until we asked for it, even though we had just spent an hour walking up and down without any water (outside drinks are not allowed, which we totally understand).
Then the server told us she hadn’t received our lunches from the kitchen on the ground level. Someone from upstairs radioed down saying they were out of onion rings, which were supposed to come with the burgers we had pre-ordered five days earlier. The server just replied, “That’s okay!” Really?! After waiting over 10 minutes while they were trying to figure out where our lunches were, I looked around the small area (it’s a four-seat eatery) and noticed a couple of covered plates. Those were our lunches.
In the end, we had lukewarm burgers and soggy French fries. Keep in mind, we paid over $40 for each burger.
It sounded like such a great idea to have lunch in a cave 200+ feet underground, but the service totally ruined it. While we were there, another table was also having lunch – they left early too.
They overloaded the elevator with 14 of us on the way back up from the cave, three staff members watched it happen, the elevator jammed, and sounded an overload alarm for 5 minutes until the doors finally opened to let some of us out. The staff on the elevator were clueless as to what to do. Obviously, there is no training for emergency situations or proper loading of the elevator, and something is wrong with an elevator that traps people inside if overloaded. This is 200 ft underground. I feel there are major problems with the safety of this operation.
Having been there before the elevator was replaced and really enjoyed the $18 tour we were vastly disappointed in yesterday's 30 minute $24 tour that ended after 10 minutes. We voiced that and shuffled around for 20 more min. Our guide was nice but not knowledgeable at all. There's vast geological history with the caverns that he knew nothing about.
The Hualapai nation purchased the attraction and needs to step up their game. I would not recommend this tour.
