We visited on a Sunday afternoon and the food was all fresh and hot. The sushi was above grade for a buffet but some of the meats seemed to be overcooked. My partner loved the seasame balls filled with bean paste. She almost bought some to take home. One of the better places to enjoy a meal in the White Mountains.
Look - this is an Asian buffet in a tiny town in Arizona. I typically don't go to a sub-$10/person buffet looking for great service or even great food. If the food is reasonably fresh and the premises aren't a stronghold for critters, it's about what you can fairly expect.
My family and I just moved to Pinetop from the valley recently. I'm also a chef and we've tried several restaurants so far and food+service has been iffy on the mountain. Although, I'd personally have to say that this place is REALLY good, I'm quite impressed. Everytime we've visited the food has been great!
