Grumpy Jake's BBQ & Catering

Staying in Showlow for the first time. Got the super sampler and added a hot link. Ribs looked a day old, beans were cold, chicken and pulled pork were OK (the best of the meats). Corn bread was way dry and crumbled apart, butter wasnt warm or nearly soft enough so you couldnt even spread it. We'll be back to the area but wont be back to grumpy jakes unfortunately. Staff was nice. Place didn't have many people inside, I think I see why.

I have been here three times. This time was not so good. I ask for lemons three times for my t which I never got. My chicken pot pie tastes good, but it was really watery. My son said when he been into his fry.He could taste the chunk of greased.They were soggy, I sent them back.Had a fresh batch made and they were just as bad was disgusting. Very disappointing. Won't be going back.

THIS WAS THE ABSOLUTE WORST MEAL I'VE EVER ATTEMPTED TO EAT! We ordered the sampler. It arrived with 4 meats stacked on a plate. The brisket was bland and dry. The pulled pork was swimming in water. The chicken had the consistency of having been put in a blender. The ribs were absolutely terrible and tasteless. In fact, all of the meats were bland and tasteless, and were drowning in water. We thought it was just the green bean water, but the meats had actually been boiled to heat them up, which took all of the taste and seasoning out. The entire plate smelled like it had come from someone's rectal region. The movie "The Help" comes to mind. Definitely do not try the chocolate cream pie! None of the wait staff spoke English. The staff was sweeping next to our table as we tried to consume the crap that was on our plate, like we needed to hurry so they could go home. The only bright spot was that the fried zucchini was pretty good and hot. However, the entirety of what we did consume quickly and unceremoniously exploded its way out within a half an hour. I would steer clear of this place.

Went multiple times and the waitress was fantastic. The food was good - but the pies were delicious. Last time we went we ate the pie first and took the food home for leftovers! My friend and I would order different pies so we could have a taste of different pies.

Was absolutely amazing! Best BBQ I ever had! Wish it wasn't 3hrs away from me would have it all the time. We got it on a road trip for the day and so glad we did.

My husband and I really liked this place! The service was great. I had the chili and that was amazing! The cornbread was perfectly sweet and was served warm. My husband had the brisket and ribs and both were delicious! Great bbq in pinetop!

We were visiting from out of town and we wanted something different. We ordered the bbq super platter. The food had very large portions. One meal could have fed 3+ people. I ordered an extra side of French fries for my son and it was $6. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak and he said it tasted like it just came out of the freezer. The Mac and cheese was really good but it had cold spots throughout like it had been microwaved. If I go back I will probably stick to the ribs and brisket. It was quite good. Service was great waitress was very attentive. Restaurant had a very nice country atmosphere.

The company I work for has an add on their tables so we came in to check it out... A couple times, lol. I had the large sample plate, and a massive baked potato plate the other time. They were all great but the brisket seemed more like a steak and hardly any smoke flavor.

Must experience.

Worst BBQ I've had in a long time. Chow hall in Afghanistan bad. Wait staff was good and the beans and coleslaw were good.

This place used to be so good it is not good anymore the food is not good at all the food had no flavor

Firstly, the waitstaff were very nice and attentive. It is unfortunate they work at a bbq place that does not know bbq. We had the brisket that was masquerading as tasteless jerky. Ribs were rip it from the bone and risk your cap tender. Penance is due for what was done to the pork. Baked beans were undercooked oddly enough. They have two sauces which need labels, Meh and Blah.
