Pros: burgers were good, cheese curds good, panko onion rings good, and our server was a nice lady.

Cons: the guy with the plugs, the wait time, the supplemental fee, the format of the menu, the lighting/decor which is reminiscent of a memory care facility or preschool.

It was $62 for 2 people - 2 burger meals, 2 beers, and cheese curds. A bit pricey.

The guy with the plugs was obviously stressed. I’ve worked in food and other types of service plenty, when you’re in the weeds, stay calm. Don’t be rude to our nice server while you just spiral, and definitely don’t be rude to customers, we saw a family walk out after you verbally accosted them. It’s busy, it’s not the end of the world. I wouldn’t be surprised to learn he’s the one behind some of these insane replies to reviews as well.

The wait time. We were told it would be 15 minutes. It was 45. Once the angry dude let our nice server take our order, our food came out in the actual 15 minute quoted time. So maybe just let her do her thing.

The 2.5% supplemental fee was not listed on the menu, and was not explained. Which brings me to my next point…

The menu badly needs reformatting. From an informational standpoint as well as graphic design, that thing is horrible. Why is the build your own section SO LARGE? Why aren’t all the sides listed? What is up with the other side of the menu? As in, why are the specialty burgers split into two sections, why isn’t a “meal” explained anywhere, what’s up with all the random little boxes on the sides, can you only add avocado to the blt, and can you only get a pretzel bun on the build your own? It’s a mess. Milkshakes aren’t even on there, some appetizers and all desserts are missing. Oh and subbing onion rings for the fries in the “meal” has an exorbitant price which is also not listed on the menu. And again, no mention of the 2.5% fee. It also makes no sense that a place with a server is a mark your own menu situation.

Atmosphere is like something from Fallout. The bright colors and harsh lighting don’t make you feel like you’re outside, more like you’re institutionalized. Maybe if half of the cloud paneled fluorescent lights were turned off it would be more tolerable. Or perhaps you could put the strings lights to use and forgo the fluorescence altogether.

In general, this place should be an order at the counter and take a number situation. The dude with the plugs should not be in customer service. Good burgers but yikes on many other levels. Honestly, we’d love to love it here… and maybe if the guy wasn’t so rude right off the bat and killing the vibe the entire time; we would forgive the decor and menu choices.

I got the Philly cheesstwak and I was ecstatic that they actually use cheese whiz, that made my day, my friend order the pb&j burger and she loved hers too.thw fries were homemade and absolutely delicious. The homemade ranch was TOO GOOD! The waitress was so nice and the chef knows what he's doing. We visited from Phoenix and we will definitely be back.

Wonderful first time experience! Easily some of the best burgers in Prescott valley. Very unique atmosphere, total backyard vibes. The birria burger was a hot one and very good. Also had the green chili burger which is my favorite so far. The service was prompt and friendly. I will definitely be coming back.

The staff should be more mindful of customers. Got the impression the guy would spit in your food if he felt like it. Complained at any modification to the ticket. The only good part of the meal was the fries and poppers. The Philly tasted like the meat was going bad and had to send it back and refused anything else as my mom was about done with her Sandwich by the time we were checked on. Not to mention the disgruntled cook- really didn’t want him serving me anything else The brisket sandwich my mom had was pretty dry. Would have asked for more sauce had the waitress came back before she was almost done eating. Would not recommend. $70 lunch- worst $70 ever spent!

I’m honestly shocked by the response from the staff and the way they speak to customers. The tone was completely inappropriate and unprofessional.

I’ve known my husband for many years, and I’ve never seen him react this way before. You really have to push someone very far to get such a reaction. We chose this place based on many positive reviews about the food, so the disappointment with the service was even greater.

We clearly asked for no onion - it was written on the order, said out loud to the server, and pointed out again when the burger arrived. Saying later that “there was no request to replace the burger” is just playing with words. Replacing it would have been the logical response. Imagine if someone had a serious food allergy.

It’s also completely unacceptable to make personal comments about someone you don’t know. As for the claim that food was “not chewed” - that’s simply false. Checking the cameras would show a chewed piece of food on the fries.

Overall, the food was tasty, but the service and management were extremely disappointing. I wouldn’t recommend this place because customer requests are ignored, and complaints are handled very poorly.

I ordered a burger and asked for the onions on the side, but they still put the onions inside the burger. When I asked them to remake it, they just took the same burger, removed the onions, and brought it back. The onion taste was still there. I do not recommend this place — terrible customer service.
UPDATE:
The staff at the establishment were also very rude and arrogant, and they said very unpleasant things to us. I don't understand how such people can work in customer service. You can judge their attitude towards customers by their response to my review. I hope that the person who responded to my review doesn't have children, because people like that shouldn't reproduce.

Overall a nice find in Prescott Valley. The inside atmosphere is laid back and had lots of games for entertainment. The service was excellent! And the food was solid - very filling after a long day outdoors. Would definitely recommend

This is not a fast food restaurant. It is a dining experience that get you off the road and into a laid back, relaxed environment to enjoy a meal and able to chat quietly. My wife had Crispy Chicken on a gluten free bun. I had the new offering of a double cheese burger as well as beer batter fries. Both meals were absolutely deliciously prepared and hot off the grill. If a person doesn't like garnishes or sauces, they can simply order them on the side. Our server greeted us at the door and directed us to available seating. She seemed happy to be employed and that was reflected in how she brought our order with a brief chat. This restaurant is clean and indeed named appropriately - Dad's Back Yard Grill, and if I could deck out my back yard like that, I would be a happy camper. For those who don't know, it called a THEME.
I found that the food was not expensive at all, and I would invite anyone to find a better deal elsewhere - NOT. I paid less than I expected and got more food than I expected. No National Brand mystery meat here.
Good job, Dad's Backyard Grill. You are our new go to from now on

First off, I need to state I am not rating based on an overall experience or the food. Because I ordered take out and I can’t review the food for what will be obvious reasons as I explain. This was our first experience with this establishment. We had heard good things and read good reviews. As always when trying a new restaurant we order the most basic of offerings in order to see if the baseline is good. We ordered 5 all American cheeseburgers. Carefully checked all the boxes on their online order form available on the restaurant’s own website. Ordered the burger setups for each individual person. We picked up the order and checked to see if each burger was correct. They were all as ordered except for one thing that the order form,(and with a subsequent search of the restaurant’s website could not find any mention of) all five burgers were dosed with an unfortunate amount of thousand island dressing. Soaked into the bun and imbedded into the patty. Sadly all people receiving these burgers do not care for that particular sauce. We all of course did our best to remove the sauce but with only marginal success. From the parking lot I called and explained what had happened and that I wouldn’t have ordered any of the burgers with that sauce. There was no offer of replacement only a vague assurance of passing it on to the owner to update the item descriptions. All in all I can’t tell you what the burgers would have tasted like otherwise. We will try again sometime in the future making sure we ask for no sauce, (which wasn’t an order option). But we would ask that the establishment add something obvious to the menu and order form to make it known that this is the standard.

GREAT food. Loved it before, but they've added to the menu and I chose s pulled pork barbecue sandwich, which was excelled. Their shakes are wonderful.
