Atmosphere was good love live country music and vibe would’ve spent more time and money here if it was not a cash only bar and ATM in facility charges $6 . Other that was a fun time if you want t to stay long and chill just make sure you have cash only .

I have to say - Dalton was a great bartender. This is my first time in Prescott and I was displaced from my lodging while my friend went on a date with a guy she met last night (at the same bar). Dalton was super welcoming and overall just a great conversationalist. I ended up spending WAY more money than I anticipated but he was cool about me working at the bar and hanging out getting to know people. I also appreciated that he took action when a homeless gentlemen was acting a fool and accosting patrons as they walked in - dude legit spartan kicked him. Overall this bar is 10/10 and I highly recommend you check it out.

“Bouncers” if you even want to give them that level of power let it go to their head and rule the roost. Apparently walking through a crowd of people dancing makes you “look drunk” and you get kicked out for that; didn’t even have a drink yet and told to leave. When asked why she is being booted, we are simply told “because I said so, get out”. Definitely won’t be back here. Better options nearby.

This is a pretend country bar for tourists along whiskey row. A band plays pretend country music while tourists pretend to country dance. Sort of like being at a wedding reception. No one really knows how to dance and the band plays wedding type music for all the aunts to get out on the floor and boogie. Drunk girls crowd together on the floor to stumble around, spill their drinks, and take selfies. You get the picture. If you really like country music and two stepping with real dancers who know something about floor craft and dance etiquette you’ll need to go someplace else.

Take a stroll down Whiskey Row in Prescott AZ and stop into Matt’s Saloon. One of the last real honky tonks. Belly up to the bar and enjoy a cold one, it’s dog friendly during the day. I wouldn’t suggest bringing a dog it when it’s hoppin with people and music! Whiskey Row is a must when visiting Prescott.

Two drafts are 15 bucks cash only and the place is terribly laid out. People must walk right through the dance floor to access the back of the bar which makes dancing next to impossible without running into people. Tables along the sides of the floor get taken well in advance of when sane people show up to a bar so there will be no where for you to even stand and watch the live band. Its a crying shame there is no real country dance bar in the town that hosts the worlds oldest rodeo. Also I can not help but to mention the staff here are extremely unpleasant. The "bouncer" or front door man acts like he is having the worst night of his life every single time we go here. We usually just dance at home on the deck now.

I would love to give this place a 5 star review but as the bouncer wouldn’t let us through the door with valid Australian licence and photos of our passport we didn’t get to experience it. Passports should be left in the safe by tourists to avoid any unfortunate mishaps. Such a shame really, we came all the way from Perth Australia (not short distance if you know your geography) for the rodeo and we’re recommended this establishment by multiple people. We ended up taking our patronage to Jersey Lilly next door where the bar staff were friendly and willing to accomodate us Australians. Shame. Not sure I would recommend Matt’s to others.
