Edit in response to the owner’s comments below. Your version of the situation is not accurate and contains false statements. Our server did not inform us. A second female employee that never engaged with us prior to ordering came over after we had ordered and had been there for some time and started the conversation with “hey sweetie…” and told us we couldn’t have the dog on our lap. I did not expect a reading of the rules, I simply told her that we were not aware of the rule and had not had issues at other restaurants in the area. We are visiting Scottsdale and are not aware of the dog rules for the county and experienced several other local establishments that allowed our small dog on our laps without hesitation. As a business owner in a tourist area, you should be aware that not everyone is going to know the local rules. We saw NO posting of such rules. Your staff handled the situation poorly in person treating us in a condescending way and now you are as well online. It reflects on you and how you trained your staff. The staff needs better oversight. You can’t allow a patron to have a dog on their lap for 20-30 minutes, place an order and then say it’s not allowed when we then have no other options.

We called and asked if we could have our dog on the patio. We were told yes, they are super dog friendly. Upon arrival, after ordering, we were told certain dog rules apply and they aren’t as accommodating as originally stated. No visible posting of these rules, no heads up, nothing mentioned on the phone and now we couldn’t leave.

Take a pass going here.

In response to the owners reply to my review:

Perhaps I should be more detailed of the events that took place.

We were warmly greeted and sat at a table with our small dog. He sat in my lap the entire time we chatted with our pleasant server and ultimately placed our order for food and drinks. It wasn't until after our order was taken that a different server came over to tell us that our dog was not allowed in our laps. We were a bit taken back as we are from out of town, our first time visiting the area and the restaurants we visited both days prior did not have any issue with our small dog in our laps.

I would avoid this place at all costs. The food wasn't that great and the owner appears rude and arrogant. He should get his facts straight before replying to my review and perhaps spend more time overseeing and training his staff.

Original review:
They claim to be dog friendly but they really are not. Our server was nice but the the woman in charge was rude. If you are going to have policies with dogs it would be helpful to have them posted or told upon arrival, not after you've placed your order and have been sitting for 20 minutes.
I cannot recommend the Brat Haus. There are many other places in town that are truly dog friendly and nice about it.

NOT DOG FRIENDLY. Came from Tucson and was excited about this place but got turned away at the door because they did not accept dogs. I always believe there is a reason for everything, god must have been watching out for us.

This is seriously one of the best hidden gems in old town. The food is fresh and very reasonable compared to a lot of expensive crap in the area.
Great beer selection, and the staff are kind and TRULY care about their customers. I came around 1:30pm in the summer for lunch and stayed until 6pm for the company. Drew, one of the owners, is so down to earth. Kristen is an incredible bartender, server, manager and is great at ensuring everyone is happy around the restaraunt. The brats are obviously delicious and fresh, the fries are INSANE!! The process they do make the fries shows how much they care about their food. We stayed long enough that we sampled their cocktails for a trainee bartender and WOW! 10/10 cocktails I had no idea. We also joined their stein club which is a steal. $50 for a year and you pay for a pint and get a custom stein (we engraved ours with our name) along with 10% off food and access to fun events. Brat Haus needs more recognition as one of the best places in Scottsdale...but not too much because I want to still get a seat! Go in the fall for the incredible patio...stay for the good food, beers, and service.

Kid-friendliness: Great patio for kids with games! Also VERY dog friendly!

I had a brat, a sausage and fries. Everything was great. I would rate the brat and sausage an A. The fries were really good and I'm a huge potato fan. Also A. The ketchup was so good and different that I didn't know what I was eating, but later found out it was the curry ketchup. I recommend this place.

In the sweltering heat of Arizona, amidst the scorching sun and shimmering mirages, there exists an oasis that beckons the weary traveler with promises of succulent delights and icy brews. Picture this: a Tuesday afternoon, the air thick with the scent of sizzling bacon, the clink of glasses, and the laughter of patrons engaged in friendly competition. This, my friends, is not just any establishment; it's a haven for the discerning palate and the parched soul.

Step through the door, and you're greeted not just by a menu but by an experience. The tantalizing offer of a "Bacon burger, Belgian-style fries, and a refreshing beer for $12" lures you in, but what awaits inside is nothing short of extraordinary. A sprawling outdoor patio, adorned with a granite-clad ping pong table and cooled by misters descending from the heavens, offers respite from the relentless Arizona sun.

But let's talk libations, shall we? This ain't your run-of-the-mill beer joint boasting an endless array of uninspired brews. Oh no, my friends. This is a temple of hops and barley, where 28 carefully curated beers grace the taps, many hailing from the hallowed breweries of Belgium. Among them, a personal favorite: the Duchesse de Bourgogne, a Flanders red ale aged to perfection in oak barrels for a staggering 18 months. But fear not, for the menu caters to all tastes and persuasions.

And then there's the food. Oh, the food! From irresistible pretzel bites dripping with homemade beer cheese to juicy burgers, finger-licking Dr. Pepper BBQ wings, and tender schnitzel bathed in a delicate white wine sauce, each dish is a symphony of flavor that leaves you craving more.

So heed my words, fellow gastronomes, and make pilgrimage to this culinary oasis. Whether it's a leisurely lunch or a lively dinner, this is a destination not to be missed. Trust me, you won't regret it.
