We made a reservation for Valentine’s Day and called half a day before our time to confirm the dress code. We are told that long sleeve and no shirt should be fine. But when we arrived, they told us that my husband is not allowed to enter since he needs a collar shirt. We can only request to cancel the reservation and they said it charges the cancellation fee.
They should have done better on the communication. It happens even if we have called for dress code ahead of time. Think the management team needs to improve the consistency of information provided through phone and in person.

Disappointing and overrated!
I almost never leave a negative review but it felt necessary to prevent others from having our experience. We came to Café Monarch expecting a memorable meal and left feeling like we had wasted our money and a night of our vacation. I thought I had vetted this place well to avoid falling into a tourist trap but that is what this felt like. Unfortunately the food was…fine…we felt it lacked flavor, seasoning, or any sort of wow moment or passion. The hamachi and tuna crudo was so vinegary you could not taste the fish or anything else on the plate and the rest of the courses seemed disjointed and lacking clear direction. As someone who enjoys fine dining and is happy to spend money on a great meal this just didn’t live up to our expectations at all. The service and ambience were lovely but unfortunately that can’t make up for the food leaving much to be desired.

This is a truly magnificent restaurant. The food was unbelievable, the restaurant itself was beautiful. The service was above and beyond, to the point of being choreographed. Very romantic atmosphere and perfect for a special occasion. The A5 wagyu was probably the best thing I’ve ever eaten in my life. It is the most expensive meal I’ve ever eaten, and I would do it again.

Thank you to our server, Zachary, who made us feel special on our date night out. He was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable! He made our dietary restrictions work and suggested favorite dishes. From the first introduction to their menu, I knew I was going for their 4 course lunch menu with petite wine pairing. It was exquisite, everything was cooked to perfection and our server Michael and his somelier in training did an exceptional job. I will be back, as this is probably one of the best restaurants in Scottsdale.
