We enjoyed our meal at Cala; the food was excellent, the service was attentive. The ambiance (outdoors) was a function of the neighborhood and not the restaurant, but it detracted from our evening. The overall atmosphere was a bit more energetic than is our typical outing, but the mood was positive and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Extremely frustrating experience; we booked ahead of time and showed up early to ensure we could have an outside table. When we arrived at 5:30 we were told no outdoor tables were available even though there was numerous empty tables. When we reserved and requested outside table, we were told that we could only reserve “general seating” but they would upgrade to outdoor on a first come, first served basis! With the restaurant less then 30% full upon our arrival at 5:30; how could it be that there was no availability for us. An unfortunate waste of our time!

I love the decor here and the food was quite good but they were having an event and the acoustics were terrible. It was so loud that we could not talk with our friends or enjoy our meal. For a restaurant to be so strict about reservations, require a credit card, and be at that price point, I feel they should insure patrons will enjoy their meal and the environment. Perhaps host private events instead of making the rest of the customers suffer? I would suggest checking with them to see if they have a large event the same time as your reservation.
