House Of Yang

Do not recommend at all. We ordered 4 dishes, Mongolian beef, black pepper chicken, chow fun, and a vegetable dish. As you can see from the photos, they pretty much all looked the same apart from a couple ingredients. There was zero flavor and very skimpy on the protein. An overload of water chestnuts and bamboo shoot in these which ruined the dishes. Probably the worst Chinese food we’ve had in a long time. Look elsewhere!

First time eating here, it was DELICIOUS! I had some time to waste while waiting for my vehicle and House of Yang did not disappoint. Lunch specials on the weekend.. what?
I ordered orange chix(LS) and crab puffs. Both dishes were full of flavor and edible unlike some places that serve you chewy and over cooked.

The worse Chinese Food in the country!!!

A few months ago, I read good things about this Chinese place so I picked up some lunch 'Sweet & Sour Chicken' with steamed rice today. When I entered the restaurant, I could smell that they are having a sewer issue. The meal was awful: the chicken meat tasted old and was completely dry (my guess is at least from the day before!) and the sauce had hardly any flavor, the onions were dry and the green peppers tasted suspicious. Pineapple pieces and steamed rice were okay.
As Brian in another review said, this meal needed to go straight into the trash and he mentioned the sewer smell already 9 months ago! Wished I had read his review beforehand. What a nerve to serve this days old trash to a paying customer or anyone.
Very disappointing as I usually have always good luck with Sweet & Sour Chicken/Fish dishes elsewhere.
Needless to say that this was my first and last time at the 'House of Yang'.

Chicken( chicken and vegetables) was so overcooked it was like rubber …. Shrimp ( moo sho shrimp) were large but also overcooked and have NO taste… would NOT recommend eating here

Actually, i like this place. I have been to this place five times so far is good, the portions are great. They give you a lot.. It will last you for 2 days.

UPDATE: I think they are having some plumbing issues because I walked in yesterday 08/26/2024, and it smelled like sewage. Gotta keep it real, it's not cool when dining in.

This time around (08/26/24), I ordered a drink and they forgot it. I asked for a refund, and the manager does not know how to do it. So she said next time I will get the drink free with a new order. This experience made me want to go less.
I ordered the sweet and sour chicken with fried rice, and it all tasted old except for the fried rice, like the smell of a dirty sponge, and so I threw it away. Do not get the sweet and sour chicken. Orange Chicken is your best bet.

They have their own in house chili oil and it is amazing. Savory and aromatic like garlic.

I've been to Ma and Pop Chinese Places, as well as the usual generic ones like Panda Express, Rice Garden, Dragon Garden, and Dragon Express. This place isnt the best I've had because of the dirty sponge taste from my last time here (08/26/24). It will move down a few tiers because this is the only place that has a dirty sponge taste to the food. The cost per portion is fantastic considering that this is located in the nice area of Scottsdale Arizona. You walk in, and the place was spotless: floors were very clean, and it did not smell like dirty oil. You can smell the sauces, as well as the charr when they are cooking your order. It does, however, currently as of 08/26/24, smell like sewage inside the restaurant. They need to get on that. The review below is from my first visit.

Today, I ordered the Orange Chicken dinner combo, which comes with your choice of white or fried rice, OR low mein noodles. It comes with an egg roll and a cream cheese ragoon, and I believe some egg drop soup. With tax, this cost me around $13, and I also ordered 8 pot stickers, and total this meal cost me $22, which is very cheap for how much you get. (PHOTOS SHOWN).

The fried rice was fire. It has this clean charr flavor from its cook, mixed with green onions, and has this intoxicating garlic scent that you do not need sauce with it. The orange chicken was crunchy, and not too saucy. It's drier than Dragon Garden's orange chicken, and less oily than Panda's. Just overall better. Flavor profile is predominantly garlic and something else I can't put my finger on. It's freaking delicious.

It's a nice, cool place to beat the heat, and the food and service makes me feel at home. Ranking from best to worst in terms of cost, portion size and quality, the order goes:

1. Dragon Garden
2. House of Yang
3. Panda Express
4. Dragon Express

They need to fix these things if they want me to come back:

-fixing the smell of sewage problem inside the restaurant
-forgetting simple orders

That was the worse teriyaki chicken I’ve ever eaten. (Most I threw away) ? The chicken was so overcooked as well as the egg roll and a funny taste. First time and only time I’ll eat there. The order taker guy was nice but the place is dark and dreary.

House of Yang never disappoints! My husband and I have been getting take out from here for years. The dinner specials come with so much food and it’s always delicious, no matter what entree we order. The staff is always welcoming and friendly. One of the best Chinese restaurants in town!

This place came highly recommended. I was disappointed. The restaurant is dark, dated, and not the cleanest or most welcoming. Order at the counter to the employee behind the Covid glass. I ordered the lemon chicken and it was okay. Too much breading and the lemon sauce did not have much flavor. The portion size was more than adequate. The egg roll accompanying the meal was delicious and the major highlight of the meal. The lunch meal was about $12 with a very small fountain soda. No plates for dine-in orders.

Always great food. I have been eating the same order for over 15 years. I order the volcano beef. It's the best over white rice. It's spicy ?
