We've been before in the past and it was pretty good, but not so much anymore. The menu has changed. No more shishito peppers, that's a mistake. Garlic butter sauce on chicken fried rice(you ruined this simple dish) more like cheap oil added on top of cheap oil. I feel like I coated my digestive tract with bad flavored oil that I tasted for 24 hrs. Japanese restaurant that serves hot Bigelow green tea, how cheap and disappointing. The other dishes aren't even worth complaining about. It's fun if you're drunk I guess but food quality is going down. Kasai no more. You get the cleaver

We didn't finish or take home any leftovers

Went here to celebrate a baby gender reveal, on February 3 2025 left with food poisoning. Called twice to ask for a refund never got a callback. The hostess kept saying that they would reveal the message in the manager and I will get call back. I now have $1000 hospital bill, missed a day of work and was in the hospital for eight hours from food poisoning. Luckily my guest who was pregnant got a very mild case of food poisoning, so her baby okay. but I would like to have my money reimbursed since within an hour of eating here we both had symptoms of food poisoning, and my hospital diagnosis was food poisoning. We have eaten here several times it is a place that we loved to go to celebrate. However, if the food was contaminated, we should be reimbursed and not have to pay for it. We will not be returning here and neither will any of our friends, due to the unresponsiveness of management, I'd appreciate someone reaching out to give us a refund.

Brought my mother here to celebrate her retirement. We had a reservation but still had to wait about 40 minutes to be seated. The staff was really nice about it and explained they were short staffed. We weren't expecting this dinner to be quick so while we were disappointed it wasnt a huge deal. Once we were seated the staff was very attentive but it did take a while for our chef to come since they were short staffed. We ordered appetizers and drinks while we waited. Once he arrived he was very friendly and fun. Overall fun experience better than other similar restaurants we've been too. Had a more upscale ambiance and portions seemed larger. The rangoon appetizer was amazing.

Our server was fantastic, I don’t recall her name but she was very attentive to us and our drinks were great, she made great recommendations we had the cherry blossom, YUM! But unfortunately, the steaks did not meet our expectations. They lacked tenderness and flavor, which was disappointing given our past experiences with Wagyu and filet. Additionally, while there were plenty of employees present, many seemed disengaged, and some were apparently off the clock which were rude and disruptive, which negatively impacted the overall atmosphere. I don’t think any of us would eat here again, we were a party of 8 celebrating a birthday, our tab was close to $1000.00 we all had steak, lobster, drinks and lots of appetizers.

I chose Kasai for my fiance's birthday and to celebrate our recent engagement. I've been to a lot of this style restaurant and from the pictures and website look like it would be very fun. The decor was nice the seating arrangements were a little cramped but The thing that threw me off the most was the prices $30 plus just for chicken I was like oh my. I told my fiance it should be amazing then I can't wait I was actually excited. We got a very lackluster chef everybody else all around us are having chefs throwing up the eggs making all kinds of noises doing extra for entertainment ours came over and spun an egg on the flat top stove threw it up in the air once and let it crack did a volcano for less than 30 seconds and that was pretty much all of the entertainment that afternoon. The chef also was not paying close attention he burned the rice and you could taste it permeated throughout. He did not clean the flat top well enough So when he started cooking the shrimp they had a burnt taste of them as well.
In conclusion if you're going to charge that high of a price for your food it better be good. When the bill came we had three drinks along with our meal totaling $145 before tip That's just for two people dining out I would say if the food was amazing I would recommend because the atmosphere was pretty decent and I can accept that every once in awhile you're not going to get the most entertaining chef but to then have food burnt and everything else it's just not worth it too many variables.

Loved going here, but I think they need to make some serious changes at the front of the restaurant. Food is always on point. But the popular opinion is the absolute turn off when you enter. There is something rude, cold and curt about the folks that take your reservation and seat you. It’s almost like they get paid to do a really bad job with people and service in general. Have you considered hiring polite staff?

I usually never leave bad reviews but I feel that this restaurant could benefit from some feedback.

We dined here for the first time for valentines weekend. My girlfriend likes teppanyaki style so we decided to change it up from the usual chain offering. We arrived early and were “greeted” by the two hostesses with frowns as if we were disturbing a private moment. No smiles, barely a hello and a strange prolonged silence when we told them we had a reservation. Our table wasn’t ready so we were told we’d have to wait with all the warmth of dry ice. There was no invitation to have a drink at the bar or anything so we went back outside because the vibe was so unwelcoming. We waited on a bench by the door and watched group after group enter and be greeted in the same icy manner. The only time the hostesses smiled is when their co-workers gathered around to chat. First impressions make a big difference and having your front of house act like they’re miserable or resentful of the clientele is not a good start. People are choosing to patronize this place and way overpaying for their meals, the least they can do is have a happy face greeting them. We actually discussed going to Hush public house next door since we knew they have awesome food and professional staff.

When we were seated the experience improved. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The drinks were tasty and the crab Rangoon app was delicious (definitely the stand out dish of our whole meal). The teppanyaki was pretty standard, nothing remarkable and not as good as their more well known competitors. The soup was very underwhelming, the Lobster was good but the steak was extremely under-seasoned.

Based on the crab Rangoon, I suspect that the non-teppanyaki menu is the way to go. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone ultimately. $240 bucks for a mediocre meal and I can think of 50 other places where that kind of money would get you an outstanding culinary experience. We left smelling of scorched oil and a resolve to never come back.

Had the front of house been friendlier I wouldn’t have bothered leaving a review at all.

I deduct a star for the disorganized hostesses and a 15-minute wait, despite having a reservation. The folks up front were very stressed due to the dinner rush, and were not as cordial. However, our server, Nick, was awesome, and the food was delicious. Their POS system crashed during our visit, so they were having trouble accepting card payments. However, Nick was kind enough to wait as I went across the street to get cash from the ATM to pay. I'd dine here again, but probably not on a Saturday night.

My family and I have been loyal Kasai patrons for years, always choosing it for special occasions. This year's New Year's dinner was unfortunately a major letdown.

We were seated in a crowded, noisy side room that felt like an afterthought. The lack of ventilation was an issue, forcing them to prop open an emergency exit door just to breathe comfortably.

The service was also subpar. We had to repeatedly ask for our menus to be removed and drinks to be refilled.

At the end of the meal, the manager made an unusual and unexpected statement about using gift cards. She claimed they couldn't be used for the full amount, a policy I've never encountered before. While we paid the difference in cash, the whole situation left a bad taste.

This was by far the worst experience we've had at Kasai. We'll be seeking a new go-to spot for future celebrations. It's a shame, as we've always enjoyed dining here in the past.

We have been to many teppanyaki restaurants and this was not it. The “show” was a man who kept yelling “happy birthday” at and customer and moving around old ingredients from the kitchen.

Our server, if you could call him that, took our order at the start of the meal and we didn’t see him again until he threw a take out box at us after the show for us to pack up the food we didn’t eat. We poured our own water and sake. We were not offered any additional drinks mid meal. We were not asked how the meal was (it was horrible). One person in our party is pescatarian and their only way to accommodate that was making their meal in the kitchen and plopping the plate in front of them at the start of the show so none of the portions coincided with anyone else and it was missing courses but was charged at full price.

The price point for the meal was that of a high end restaurant but the service and quality of food were too mediocre to ever consider trying again. The fans did not filter out the steam properly from the cooktops and guests were covering their faces in disgust.

The bartender said that a drink on the menu was listed with wrong ingredients and insisted it was only two things but the drink that was produced contained something that gave one of our party a severe allergic reaction (which would not have happened with the ingredients she insisted were in it).

All in all, it was a horrible experience and I am uncertain how so many people have rated this place well. Maybe diners that have never had a decent meal? Please just skip it.
