My company held our annual conference at the Scottsdale Resort and Spa this year and the food provided at the lunches on both days was provided by La Fogata if the branded napkins were any indication.

Both days were buffet style. The first day had a make your own caesar salad portion, with a fancy-looking caprese salad (which I tried for the first time and was quite pleased with it - the tomatoes were large and perfectly ripe). For the hot options of the meal, there was a thing of steak and potatoes, chicken parmesan, and some chicken that honestly looked like a big vat of kimchi in my opinion. The steak was impossible to cut through and looked like a roast beef puck you’d get out of a TV dinner entree. The potatoes were soft but had minimal flavor. The chicken parmesan was mostly breadcrumbs. The chicken inside was so tiny, it was laughable. Also, why was the chicken more on the pink side?? I asked an older coworker about it and he said it was fine as it was probably just the style of how it was cooked to not have it too dry. The majority of the chicken parm part was breadcrumbs because there was only a small spoonful of marinara sauce and a minuscule dollop of cheese on each thing of chicken. Not appetizing.

The second day featured a taco bar. There were both corn and flour tortillas, lettuce, shredded chicken, steak fajitas, rice, and a lot of various toppings. There was also a different kind of salad with (probably canned) mandarin orange slices and some kind of white shredded stuff that looked like coconut but wasn’t coconut. I don’t know what it was; I should’ve read the fine print next to the dish more. The “shredded” chicken was either too shredded or not shredded at all, and was also super spicy. I know I don’t have the highest spice tolerance, but that chicken had me blowing my nose at the end of the meal. Another thing I will add is on both days, only forks were provided. No spoons, and certainly no knives. I thought that was completely inconvenient. I had to tear through my “shredded” chicken with my fork and mouth looking like a caveman because the pieces that weren’t shredded were way too big to swallow in one go. The steak fajitas were okay, not the most flavorful fajitas I’ve had, but at least the guacamole was blended to smithereens which is how I prefer my guacamole.

I’m sure this place has better options or at least better servings when prepared in an actual restaurant setting, but I was not a happy camper after either meal.

My partner and I are 70 years old. I became sick TWICE after eating seafood and dairy meals during my 3 day stay at La Fogota in the Scottsdale Resort & Spa. 1. Ate a meal at 8pm on 10/10/2024 and woke up to extreme abdominal pain, throwing up, bloody diarrhea, and possible fever. We told the hotel management and they berated and shamed me for complaining, and basically called me a liar. 2. Stupidly, I ate again at same restaurant, again seafood and dairy at 1pm on 10/13/2024 and woke up again with extreme abdominal pain and bloody diarrhea. I WAS MADE TO FILL OUT A FORM BY SECURITY DESCRIBING MY AWFUL EXPERIENCES. THE SECURITY PERSON, ERIC, NEVER APOLOGIZED BUT INSTEAD TREATED ME AND MY PARTNER AS CRIMINALS. I have since reported this restaurant to Maricopa Environmental Health Department and my doctor at UCLA. BEWARE OF THIS RESTAURANT AND SCOTTSDALE RESORT & SPA. Note that we never asked for money or credit for our 3 day hotel stay. All we did was make everyone aware of our experience and we were treated with disrespect and hate. STAY AWAY FROM LA FOGATA AND SCOTTSDALE RESORT & SPA.

Overall the experience was great. A little torn on the rating as the service team was super nice but understaffed. Had to hunt down staff at times but they were super busy. Do not expect a speedy meal. Food was great. If you order the fork & knife breakfast burrito, I suggest sharing it. It is HUGE. They had a nice DJ on Sat @ brunch.

We absolutely adored our evening at La Fogata. Antonio was a fabulous server and the hostess was lovely. This staff has clearly been at this restaurant through many changes over the last two decades. It felt like coming into their homes. The food portions are large and the flavor pallet is heavy. We will be back!

Specialty wine-pairing dinner: Wonderful five-course dinner paired with a selection of Daou wines. The chef and the representative from the wine distributor did great jobs in their descriptions of the food and wine. Service was top notch. All of the hard surfaces in the restaurant meant that (especially with a full group of diners,) the noise level was high, but keeping up with that made for a lively atmosphere.

We ordered the scallops, Ribeye and shrimp, every bite was delicious. A special shout out to the Chef and Antonio our server for making our dinner experience with our guest so wonderful. The ambience and food are superb but nothing makes an impression when dining like immaculate service. Between Thailor serving us, to the ladies in the front that greeted us, the expectations are exceeded beyond belief. Dining and staying at this resort has been the highlight of this trip and we will definitely request to see Thailor when dining in their restaurant ! Thank you guys so much !
