This is our visit. We ordered French onion soup, croque Madame and a club sandwich. The soup was not authentic, it used cheddar cheese, broth was bland. The sandwiches were just ok, not tasty. We were so excited to find a French café near us, but this is a huge disappointment.

Honestly, this place used to be a lot better. I came here twice within the last few months, and both times the service was bad. The girls behind the counter talk and hardly pay attention to the customers, you can hear the whole conversation. And the owner as well seems to like to talk to only certain customers, not sure how to explain it. Came here alone twice, so I observed a lot- just strange.. Also, the food, including the croissant were actually inedible. Honestly, it tasted like it was old and bad. And lastly, the eggs Benedict. I’m telling you I could not eat it, the eggs were more than hard-boiled.. And the taste of the hollandaise sauce was something I cannot explain. I just got up and left! I don’t know what happened, but it used to be a lot better… Super disappointed.

Food is very underwhelming. Eggs over cooked in Eggs Benedict. Hash browns have the texture of something out of a box, definitely not fresh, that or they’re old. Quiche tastes like egg whites used in place of whole eggs and lacking texture in crust. Beignets have the texture of stale donuts.

We came here for brunch. The place was clean and the staff was friendly. The food however was a bit disappointing and not memorable. I was expecting fresh, hand-made food, but to me the food looked and tasted like it had come out of a box/was frozen food. It felt like they just put together a meal where each individual piece was already pre-made.

An absolutely terrible experience with a bug found crawling in the food. Our group ordered about $100 of food. It looked excellent and tasted great, until we found a bug crawling through the salad on one of the plates. The entire table lost our appetites. The chef came out and told us “it happens” and that since he didn’t grow the salad, he wasn’t responsible. At this point, I’m concerned that the salad was never washed either. We were offered a croissant in apology, but we should have at minimum been offered a refund for the plate that had the bug on it. We will not be returning.

Amazing little cafe to have breakfast. I always get the Eggs Benedict. It’s not super heavy hollandaise either has a nice lemon butter. It comes with a salad on the side with a delicious dressing. Simple and yummy with an Iced latte.

I hate to do this, genuinely thought based on other reviews this would be a good experience and for the prices they want to charge. The staff was very friendly and the ambience was great. Unfortunately the food, at a cost of $90 (two entrees, one side of bacon, two lattes, two croissants, two tart) it’s absolutely unjustifiable and extremely disappointing. Going to leave a detailed review because I think those considering coming here deserve to know and those who own this really need to evaluate what’s gone wrong in their business, because yes it was THAT bad.
Hollandaise sauce - it was extremely vinegary like someone bumped an arm and added way too much; it was so inedible.

Hashbrowns - must have been under a heat lamp for hours half of it was dried out and refried in what tasted like dirty oil.

Salad - was ok, once again, was too vinegary.

Bacon: was not cooked to order extremely dry like a potato chip.

Lemon meringue tart - tastes a bit of freezer burn and the tart pastry dough wasn’t fresh, lemon curd was dry and lacked depth of flavor ($9.50)

Apple Normandy - a bit better, but once again dry and lacking depth of flavor.

I’ve been to France, I’ve been to Essence bakery here in Phoenix. I know what this food tastes like when it’s done well and I can’t justify spending these prices for such dull food.

So, if you haven't been to Merci Cafe you are missing out on quite the experience! Merci Cafe graciously let us reserve two high-top tables for Saturday, August 2, 2025, for 10:00 am brunch due to a loved one in our party who has mobility issues. When we arrived everything was ready for us. We had a reservation for 8 people, we ended up with 9. The ambiance is wonderful, the food is amazing and fresh! Merci Cafe is truly a sublime family affair which consists of Duc, his wife Noelle and their children. Everyone in our party unanimously agreed that we must come back for dinner!

The food was amazing and the owner, Duc, was very welcoming and kind, as were his lovely wife and daughter. We enjoyed our morning coffee experience so much that we returned for lunch the next day. A truly marvelous experience!
