We are a sucker for pan roast every time we go to Vegas, we need to stop by Palace Station.

So when we saw Ocean Trail serving pan roast inside Talking Stick Casino, we had to try.

Started out with half dozen Blue point oysters from Virginia ($27). The sizing was inconsistent.

We sat at the bar to watch the chef make our combo pan roast with spice level 5. He adds five spice, shakes the Cajun spice jar 5 times which corresponds to the spice level we picked, adds White wine brandy, more Spices and lemon juice.

The pan roast had crawfish, shrimp and crab meat for $39. Choice of white rice or dirty rice. We chose white and wished we tried dirty which is white rice with ground beef. Never seen this option any where else.

We enjoyed the flavors but the pan roast here was pricer and I’m used to having sausage and more seafood for lesser price. The broth was on the thinner runnier side not chunky. The portions were also smaller. Reasons for the overall 3 stars.

If you’re craving and want to spend your winnings, go for it. Otherwise, get it at the original pan roast at Palace Station.

If you're looking for your Cajun fix, then try Ocean Trail. Situated inside of the Talking Stick Resort, it could be a long wait to get a seat. I tried the shrimp boil and a bowl of red beans and rice. The shrimp was overcooked, but the spice level was perfect. The staff were all pleasant and checked in frequently

Accessible entrance.

This place NEVER disappoints. Absolutely a must if you are staying at the resort or simply nearby. Started with oyster shooters that are always spot on. We ordered the gumbo and the etouffee and both were beyond excellent. They allow you choose your heat level of spice. I went with 8 this time and the flavor of the gumbo was awesome, and the heat did not take away from the meal. my date went with 6 and equally agreed that it might be too hot for some, but if you're up for it... it is a must. Wrapped up with a sublime key lime pie that was rich and decadent. Bloody Mary's with the meal also on point. Staff is amazingly attentive and if seated at the bar, you literally are in for a show as the cooks create each meal with meticulous care. So good, cannot wait for my next visit.

Ocean Trail has been our favorite place to eat over the past 8 years. Going all the way back to when Tip was the chef, the food was unbelievlely delicious! Our server was always Hymie who was also the very best! Then Tip retired and the young gentleman took over her spot, be he was also outstanding with his cooking! So we moved out of state, we came this week to visit and came last night for our Anniversary dinner. I was so looking forward to order my favorite, Cajun shrimp boil as always. But to great disappointment, this new chef cooking our food last night 8/15, just did not make the cut. I was so very disappointed, it was flavorless lacked flavor all the way no salt either, and it was a very full bowl of liquid, like a soup, which it’s “not” a soup, that was watered down. Nothing was right about this dish that I’ve been getting for years. My oysters were delicious, and my husband’s shrimp cocktail was too. He had the beer steamed clams, they were actual good. Our server Amaris, was pretty good,, but not quite as good as Hymie was. Also, another disturbing issue, was the Nats that were flying around our heads and our food, and all around the bar, we have never in all these past years experienced that before! I worked in the bar/restaurant industry, so nats flying everywhere is not good! Over all… last nights experience with my meal was not good, I didn’t even stay for desert this time either, so I probably won’t be returning to what used to be one of my favorite places to eat in Arizona. My anniversary dinner was a sad disappoitment!!

Perhaps the greatest dish in all of Arizona, the combo pan roast at Ocean Trail. It’s such a unique dish that you can barely find all over the country. The only comparison is Oyster Bar in Las Vegas. It’s a shame they raised the price on this dish so high, they should lower it as they also used to have a lunch and dinner portion but no longer do. It’s not reasonable to pay $40 for the dish.

We had the shrimp gumbo, chicken gumbo, shrimp Cobb salad, and Shrimp Pan roast. All were excellent. Don’t pretend to be a gumbo expert so can not comparing it Louisiana’s finest. We just liked it all.The waiter was phenomenal. Younger guy in his 20’s with tattoos and a mop top haircut. Judging a book by it’s cover, as I usually do (lol), I expected sub-par service. He was excellent, attentive, and very personable. We were there around 2pm on 5/11/24 so if a manager reads this I hope, you take note as we did not get his name. 5+ star service.

I've been going here since it opened. Always very good food and excellent service. Lately though it has gone very downhill. Pictures all over the reviews of the original size servings. The past few times I've eaten there the serving is now placed in a small half the size cereal bowl, and the prices increased dramatically from the already expensive menu. Ordered a combo pan roast April 20, 2024. Shrimp and crab. Three small chunks of crabmeat and six medium shrimp in a watery sauce with a half size scoop of dirty rice. Also a bowl of soup, half the portion they used to serve, and over priced as well. For two people, shared, the above was $67.00 total. We drank water. So yes, way out of the ball park for a casino restaurant that caters to loud drunks. It was a great place, but has taken a turn for the worse. I ordered the Pei mussels and a crab ceasar last time.... the mussels were terrible! Always ordered the mussels, many years, then they changed the sauce recently... yuck. Wishing Pappadeaux would open in the Wast Valley. Hope they get it back together, was a great little place with amazing food.

The food was so delicious. The way the seafood in the seafood creole was tasteful. I wish it came with more rice. The amount can be a shareable for takeout.

This is a nice place to eat. Not very many seats available, so there may be a wait especially if you have a large group. The staff is amazing and the food is even better. You may have to wait for a table but you won’t have to wait to be served. The food comes out quick and delicious. I usually go with the oysters, but everything is tasty.

Parking: There are plenty of places to park. If you are not familiar with the property, you may end up walking far to reach the entrance. When traveling east down talking stick way, the parking garage is the second left entrance. You can usually park very close to the door.
