I wouldn’t recommend. The class description states materials and supplies provided. It doesn’t say you only get 3 pieces of clay meaning only 3 attempts. There is a large possibility you will pay for the class, come to the class, mess up said clay pieces and have nothing to take home. The class with teacher that was not very attentive. Very large information dump at the beginning of the class for beginners. There was no information given during the class. Teacher seemed to gravitate towards one side of the room and not the other. Issues were brought to the attention of the owner to which she responsed “well the teacher can’t be everywhere all at once”. The class and size of 14 was offered by the business.
Excellent food and drink, personable staff, and high fun-to-cost ratio. Thanks!!
I’m in visiting family this week from Columbus OH & wanted to stop by and try out some local cafes. I’m SO happy my partner & I went to potters peak!
Great atmosphere, excellent service, staff were kind and friendly. The pottery studio next door was great to see while waiting for our drinks. If we were here longer I’d definitely be taking a class!
I ended up getting the matcha, which was delicious, very rich flavor, and not bitter at all. One of the best cups I’ve had in a while. Thank you !
It was a lot of fun. We made a mistake when booking a class and they were very helpful and kind with accommodating and extra person.
I’ve taken several pottery classes! Grace’s class was by far the best she is an amazing teacher! Would recommend to anyone looking for a pottery class in Scottsdale!! Everyone at the shop was very nice and welcoming!
My Daughter purchased this activity for me as a Mother’s Day present. We were both so excited for me to go. She had taken a pottery class in Florida and loved it and she actually received the piece she made. Unlike Potters Peak. I went to the class in June and was told it could be 6-8 weeks but to keep checking back to see if it had been fired yet. I did call I called at 6 weeks, 8 weeks, 10, weeks, 13 weeks each time I was told that maybe it would get fired in the next batch. Finally I had my boyfriend stop by to check on it and was told it had been thrown out because we did not come and get it. I was told by them to call and check on it rather than stop by, because I’m over an hour away from Potters Peak. I was very upset that since I had been calling and had always been told that no it had not been fired yet. This place is a scam I read reviews after the fact and I see they have very poor customer service. I believe since I called numerous times that it would have not been a big deal to give me a call. They told my boyfriend they emailed us which I do not believe for a second after reading the review from the group who’s class had supposedly been rescheduled and everyone was emailed about the change but no one saw it in their email (REALLY ??☹️?) . Horrible customer service and there are much better pottery places to go to in the Phoenix area. Save yourself some money and grief by going someplace else that actually cares about their customers.
The absolute cutest coffee shop around! I love the idea of having a pottery and coffee date. It was really cool to watch everyone get creative. The baristas were so sweet, I LOVED the decor and whole vibe of this place. I also thought it was rad that they had some outside games; foam axe throwing, chess and cornhole. The hot chocolate and turkey and cheese bagel were delicious! Definitely worth a stop! The mugs on sale are amazing too!
This is the place to be, in Scottsdale. If you want a great cup of coffee or dive into fun pottery classes, you need to check it out. The staff is amazing. The owners are amazing. All around amazing!! Luv going here!
I took two pottery classes at the beginning of the year, and while the first class was great, the second was handled so poorly that I will never go back. The instructors are absolutely amazing. Super knowledgeable, patient, and very engaging. But ultimately, I spent over $650 and have nothing to show for it except frustration and wasted time.
During glazing week, we arrived at class, and the pieces we had worked on the previous weeks weren’t fired yet. We did not have a chance to glaze our pieces during class, and we were assured they would be ready for us the next weekend during the class party. We could then glaze and get help. Since there wasn’t anything for us to do, we left the class early.
When we arrived the next weekend at 10 a.m. for the class party, we were told it had been changed to start at noon. When we spoke with the owner, they told us they sent out an email blast to everyone. I did not receive an email changing the time, nor did my friend, nor did the other 8 people from the classes who were also there around 10 a.m.
We asked the owner to check if we were on the email thread, and she wouldn’t. We weren't able to stay since we had scheduled our day around this. Her only concession was to give us a free “open studio session” to finish our pieces. I arrived the following day to pick up and finish my pieces, and no one would help me because it was “open studio,” which doesn’t include instruction.
I went back twice after that to find my pieces, and they either still hadn’t been fired or were nowhere to be found.
The studio is 45 minutes from where I live. It’s not really that easy to just “pop in” with no guarantee your piece is ready, even though that should be a valid expectation when it is literally part of a six-week class I paid for. Hopefully, they have ironed out their processes since then, but if something does go wrong, the owners are not likely to take your complaints seriously.
Very cool and interesting little coffee shop and pottery store, it has lots of amazing pottery pieces for sale as well as offering pottery lessons at the location also.

My 10 year old daughter is crazy about pottery, so I splurged and bought her the ‘Take it for a Spin’ class for her birthday. The class was ok- a lot of direction for the first almost hour, but once we finally got our hands on the clay it was fun. Kiddo had a blast.
We were excited to get our creations glazed and fired, but a little bummed when we found out it not only cost extra (the class was $160 for both of us- firing of at least one piece should be included IMO), but it took 6 weeks before we would get it back. Ok not a huge deal we know it takes time in the kiln, etc. I asked if we would be notified when they were ready and was told no, that we should just come back in 6 weeks. I plugged the date into my calendar, paid for three pieces to be fired and left.
Here we are just over 6 weeks later. Drove almost an hour to get there with a very excited 10 year old. Got there annd immediately found her two pieces waiting for us, but when it was time to locate mine, it was no where to be found. The two people working there seemed clueless about what to do. They let us search all the bags, but nothing. I’m not so upset that it wasn’t there, but over the way they failed to handle the situation. They stammered saying that maybe it wasn’t fired yet, but wouldn’t let us look at the unfinished pieces. They said they would email when it was ready but we were told differently the night of the class.
When I told them I was an hour away and would likely not return for one item, I asked for a refund (again, it wasn’t about the money, but I had paid for something I didn’t get). They told me they don’t do refunds…for something I bought and they didn’t have. I said I’d settle for some scraps of raw clay so my daughter could play with it at home. I was told they only sold the clay in 25lb bags and that since I wasn’t a member I couldn’t have any.
So, that was handled beyond poorly. They didn’t have enough sense to handle the situation appropriately. So I left without my piece, a refund or a remedy. Needless to say, I’m not recommending this place nor going back (despite my kiddo’s broken heart). Thank god it was mine they lost and not hers, she would have been devastated.
My hope is this- one, that they will make this right (and no I’m not driving back out there); two, they retrain their staff- both the one who told us just to come back in 6 weeks and the two who were clueless at pickup; and three, they empower their staff to make decisions when an issue like this occurs. They could have made it better by just giving us some scrap clay in a bag- it wasn’t like I was asking for the world.
Again, not about the money. More about the disappointment.
I consider myself a sort of coffee connoisseur and this… changed my life. ? I JUST tried it for the first time and it’s legitimately the best coffee I’ve ever had so I was compelled to leave a review. See you again ASAP. ?
I used to stop at Black Rock every weekend and noticed Potter’s Peak behind it one day. I decided to try them out and I haven’t been to Black Rock since (I think it’s been a year now)! Their coffee is amazing and I’ve enjoyed every single latte I’ve ordered. Staff is always wonderfully kind and the place overall has a great atmosphere. My only complaint is that they’re not on my route to work (haha)!
“I had a very nice experience at this coffee shop! The ambiance is cozy and inviting, making it the perfect spot to relax or catch up with friends. The coffee is excellent, and you can really taste the quality in every cup. The staff is friendly and attentive, always making sure you have everything you need. I’ll definitely be coming back for more!”
3 friends and I had a great experience at Potter’s Peak taking an intro to pottery. It the first time for all of us on the wheel and it was a blast! The instructor was fun and very patient with everyone. Fun stuff and hope to do it again soon!
