As some of the previous reviews said, this location has its ups and downs particularly with customer service. There are a few I really enjoy seeing and talking with and some I just can’t believe after all these years they are still working in the bagging position and try to avoid them. There is one gentleman who always seems to boast confidently about how he can bag well but he just bags everything quickly without being careful and one time the lid on the sushi I’d bought came open while he was bagging items and all the food came out. Luckily I was offered a new one but a few weeks later, this gentleman made the same mistake again with a container of jumbo blueberries I’d bought and about 7 of them fell out. The young lady at the cash register named Tia threw the fallen out berries away but no one offered me a new container and I’d already paid for the full one (before the blueberries had fallen out). At minimum if it’s your mistake, you should offer a new replacement. I’ve also seen this gentleman argue with other customers when asked to bag items a certain way and he seems to get very defensive. I almost just prefer checking out myself often so I don’t have to deal with this, but often times I just have too many things and need the help and the space. It’s just sad one has to feel this kind of anxiety while shopping at the grocery store. I want to be supportive but there has got to be some improvements made in the customer service department.
When I went to this store this morning there were lots of workers doing a complete overhaul of the items. They were moving everything to different locations. Considering how expensive this store is, you’d think they’d at least have items on the shelves by 8am.
the photo with the big tooth was my example photo for bakery. was explained it would be regular frosting, and she would CALL me if they were unable to do what I requested. I asked for the happy bday to be on the side of the cake with the balloons that are plastic by the tooth on top with braces on it. Was for my bosses bday and braces removal. When I went to pick up the cake and wanted to see, It was not even close as you can see in photos. It also isn't that it's not even close it's just poorly done. We can not figure out what the triangle on the side is. So disappointing. We always pick up cakes here and are normally so good and pretty. I don't recommend having ANY custom cake here done. The girl I picked up from put blame on the girl I ordered from, so obviously they don't have a system in play that works to communicate together. She did discount me on it, but the reality is it's the ugliest cake ever. Looks like a boys bday cake that kids made, and my boss is a 40 year old woman. I was so embarrassed bringing it in and wasn't able to correct and get another (they didn't have anything to pick out diff anyways) because I was already going to be late picking this one up. If they would have just called me to say they couldn't do anything I asked we could have figured something out.
I also asked for it to be solid and no trim specifically too. I feel likenits there to hid the poor frosting job that you can see cake through.
They don’t have freshly made to order deli sandwiches at the counter anymore. The worst Safeway to shop at. Their excuse was we don’t have time to make them anymore.
They mark food items for sale, but choose to not honor the markdowns at the cash register. It is clear they are ripping people.
Apparently the pick up and go employees take their breaks together at starbucks within the store. Unprofessional, just left the customer standing there. Were called multiple times over the P.A Acted like they never heard it when two other employees called for them multiple times. Lied to me and to the other employees. The store is very unprofessional.
Bought a birthday cake, it was stale and hard like it had been made a week ago. The design was perfect, but I won't be ordering cakes here anymore. I have gotten cakes from other Safeways and they had always exceeded my expectations. Not sure why they couldn't this time. I asked for a single layer with cupcakes. The cupcakes were missing, the cakes was two tier, but paid about $40 for the small 10" cake.
On 4/6/24 at 12:30 p.m. I was using the lady's restroom. I heard a knock at the door and a lady came in and stated. "Is there someone in here? I said yes. I heard her say "oh there's just 1 person in here come on in". When I opened the stall door to wash my hands, there was a young man standing next to Sharon. T and he was changing out the air freshener on the wall above the sink. unacceptable!! There was a woman in the bathroom!! . Sharon T should be reprimanded.
Workers are never friendly, cart are always broken (pull hard to one side annoying), womens restrooms filthy, no one wants to help when looking for something (they should walk you there). Not going back anymore. You can keep your condescending apology you know your not going to do a thing about it. You’ve been getting these complaints for a while
I have never been to this Safeway and not had problems with things ringing up for the wrong price or having things on my receipt that I did NOT purchase.
Here is another example from yesterday... blueberries advertised for $5, so I bought some. Rang up as $6.99. So I had to waste 5 minutes of my time going to customer service to get a refund. Nice lady said they programmed the registers wrong. I asked since they now knew for sure that the price was ringing up wrong for everyone what they would do about it. She responded they would do nothing, but if anyone happened to notice on the receipt they got charged the wrong price they would refund the money. I feel sorry for all those folks who don't check their receipts carefully after each and every trip to Safeways. This is fraud to know you are charging customers a higher price than advertised.

Thank you Safeway, Scottsdale and Shea!!!! 5! Beautifully arranged and delicious catering trays wowed me and our 50+ guests! I ordered too much food as each tray was ABUNDANTLY filled. Fine Cheese and Fruit-awesome selection of fine cheeses and fresh fruit!! (we ordered the 18" if available and the were huge!!!)
Mini-Croissant salad sandwiches, tuna, chicken and egg-
Mini-Croissant meat sandwiches complete with condiments
Veggie Tray beautifully arranged with two flavors of hummus...
and an additional fruit tray...The fruit was fresh, sweet, from the cantaloupe, honeydew, berries of all varieties, grapes, watermelon *actually the fruit on the cheese tray most likely was enough fruit however I am eating the melon and berries now so the left overs are being put in smoothies some frozen like the berries and pineapple..etc...
My guests kept asking "where did the food come from?" and it certainly did not "break the bank". Excellent value, Excellent quality!
I would, of course, use this Safeway location if I ever need to cater a large or small gathering as they offer so many different foods to serve beautifully and of great quality. I cannot wait to be able to have the occasions to try more!
I was just in this Safeway on Friday march 29th. It was early in the morning, so the store was empty, I went up to the self check out (no one else was there). I was running late so asked the girl if she knew the code to the banana, she said to scan it
Which I did, I then asked her if she knew the code to a muffin? Her reply was she is not allowed to give out the codes. They want us to look it up or self. I asked her what if somebody is site, impaired, which she did not respond, I told her this is horrible customer service.
I went to my hair appointment and shared the info with the three ladies in the salon, who were all disgusted to hear about the lack of customer service. After my appointment, I decided to go back and talk to the manager
I spoke to the assistant manager (I don’t remember his name he has a small gauge in earlobe). He told me that definitely checkers are not supposed to give the customers the codes at the self check out. I responded and told him that is bad customer service. I hate the self checkouts anyway. And I also told him I am a flight attendant, and if you walked on my plane and asked for help finding your seat, And I responded with sorry I can’t help you! How bad would that be! shame on this Safeway! Since then I’ve spoken to a manager at another Safeway, who said that is not Safeway rules at all
I’m not good at doing reviews but the Starbucks at this Safeway deserves one! The barista at Starbucks Dennie was so friendly and provided probably the best service I’ve ever had at a Starbucks. Someone give this girl a raise! She made my morning a good one, thanks!
Good store, great Starbucks. Barista Denny is excellent. Wife and I see her daily. Keep her forever! Thank you!!!
I see multiple negative reviews for this location, and with good reason. The customer service is up and down. Sometimes employees are cheerful sometimes they're less friendly. The management needs to put social people on the cashier and bagging stations. The gas station is recommended but the grocery store is hit or miss. CVS down the road is probably better or just go to Walmart. Regarding customer service, the Safeway on McDowell usurps this one.
