It's hard to find an old fashioned malt. This place was awesome! The service was great and the quality was great!
I can only assume that the high ratings for this place are due to the fact that it looks like a cute soda shop because the ice cream is not good. It tastes like a low grade grocery store ice cream and we were highly disappointed. We got the sherbert and pecan praline. Definitely recommend going somewhere else if you want good ice cream.
Very convenient bar counter as well as table seating
You are greeted with cold water before getting your ice cream order
The worst ice cream ever. Wouldnt be surprised if it was blue bell. Terrible it was severed even in a warm bowl which made the ice cream turn to soup be the time it got to our table! So disappointed! And there was ice chunks in it.
The sugar bowl has a cute old timey atmosphere with their decor and beautiful glasses. The malts were delicious and the ice cream was the perfect texture. It definitely is not just a photo op and worth going to over the Haagen Daz across the way. We had originally planned on going there but as we were walking the sugar bowl caught my eye and it was a pleasant surprise.
I had never been to this place before, and upon entering, saw only a bunch of sugar raging ( very loud ) kids inside. You have to wait to be seated by a hostess. I was still having doubts about this place while looking at the menu & the prices. I ended up ordering myself a vanilla shake. And OH BOY! I LOVED IT VERY MUCH!! This place has the absolutely best ice cream in the entire valley. Do not miss this place. You will not be sorry if you go here. Wonderful staff and location. I would even say it is a jewel of Scottsdale, and the entire Valley of the Sun.
The Sugar Bowl is a must of you are visiting Old Town Scottsdale. We went in the evening on a Friday night. I had the Tin Roof Sunday, and my wife had the Golden Nugget!! They were both delicious! The atmosphere is very much old school, and it will hit the nostalgic vibes. The staff was very kind and efficient. Don't forget to buy a coffee much for the collection in the way out.
Insanely overrated!! Horrible service for expensive, disappointing sundaes! Then, after having table service, we had to wait in a long line of take out orders to pay!
We didn’t try the main menu, but the dessert menu alone was enough to impress us. Every dessert we ordered was absolutely delicious—rich, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The staff was nothing short of amazing—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming.

Went there on Tuesday with my son for the 1st time. Cute shop. Didn't get what I ordered but it was still good. Customer service is terrible. Ordered a do-it-yourself (server was irritated by us apparently) I say this because he kinda rolled his eyes when I ordered the banana split with rocky road and cookie dough. We received a oreo and cookie dough. I ordered an iced tea, never received it. But other than the horrible service, it was quite yummy. I didn't return it we just ate it and the server never came back to ask for my tea. So this service was quite disappointing considering I've heard so much about this place.

Super cute dessert shop with plenty of seating! The banana split was 10/10. Will come back when visiting.
