We usually order a variety of appetizers and share amongst ourselves to experience a variety of flavors and textures. Then order one entree to share as well. We were NOT disappointed! Each item was prepared to perfection and our server, Tessa, timed the delivery so that the items did not all come out at once! The staff was very attentive without being overbearing and made sure empty plates were removed, water glasses were full and extra tostada chips were delivered for our ceviche. Tessa made some excellent suggestions, and the sticky cake was the best way to end the meal. Just a bit chilly inside the dining room, but a light jacket took care of that easily. We will be back for sure!

We tried lots of different dishes and all were delicious. Service slowed down near the end as the waitress was working too many tables and one of our desserts never showed up, but we got it to go. Overall a nice evening.

We've been to Sumo Maya a few times now, and it keeps getting better. The last couple of visits we went straight for the sushi — absolutely delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. The drinks are spot-on, the ceviche is fantastic, and the whole vibe just works. Great ambience, great service at the bar, and an all-around great experience. Can't wait to go back.

We went last night (Monday night) and it was fairly quiet compared to most nights at SumoMaya. We had to flag our waiter down every time we wanted to put in more food and drinks. When you're spending $300+ the expectation should be to have better service than what we got.

I booked this for special birthday for boyfriend, based on my past experiences- This time I had to three times talk to them that I have a reservation for2 for birthday, and I prefer booth but the put us on patio it was hot, OpenTable still had old menu, new menu not a options for veggie person... server was so busy attending big table, server dropped food each time not even explaining...very rude service and not a good options for vegetarian with their new menu.... Totally disappointed, I wish I knew this it ruined his first birthday I planned.

SumoMaya is a unique local favorite. A great place to take visitors. The pomegranate guacamole is outstanding, and don't miss the Ahi Tuna Tostada. We ordered edamame and found it to be a bit heavy on the seasoning. Next time would ask the kitchen to please go lighter. With an emphasis on appetizers, we did not need too much in the way of main courses, and the avocado fried rice and yakisoba noodles fit the bill. We requested in advance and received a table in the quietest part of what is a very noisy restaurant. While we understand the desire to appear energetic, we and our friends frequent this restaurant less often than we might prefer due to the difficulty in hearing conversation. The food is great, the service is excellent, the environment is lovely. Be prepared to not be able to hear your table companions.
