The experience is always a delight. One of my all time favorites in the greater Phoenix area. The food, presentation, service, atmosphere, and menu offerings are A1. Will be back again and again and..... you get the point 😋
My one complaint about SumoMaya is how dark it is in the restaurant after the sun goes down. It is minimally lit, especially in the bar area, which takes away from the holistic dining experience. Yes, the food tasted good, but I would've liked to be able to appreciate how it was plated and garnished. I literally could not see the food I was eating. The service was great, and the bartender with the spider tattoo was working HARD to keep the drinks moving. She deserves a raise...
Great food. Packed and noisy. Friendly staff. I didn't know what to expect when I heard this was Asian Mexican fusion. I wouldn't call it fusion, more like a mixed menu. Pricey for what you get. We spent nearly $500 on a party of 4. Very difficult to find non-valet parking. They blocked off all the parking for their valet.
