☕ Feeling Unwelcome and Discriminated Against at Sweetwater Coffee 😔

I’m deeply disappointed and hurt after what I experienced at Sweetwater Coffee on October 13, 2025.

For the record — I’m an African American man who visits this shop often and always tips the staff generously. Despite my loyalty and kindness, I was made to feel completely invisible during my last visit.

I was there with one of my project managers. As she left, one of the girls behind the counter said, “Thanks for coming in” and “Goodbye.” I later noticed the same warm send-off given to another white gentleman who left after me.

But when I walked out — after tipping them twice — I got nothing.
No thank you.
No goodbye.
Not even a glance.

That silence spoke volumes.

As a paying customer and a man of color, I couldn’t ignore the difference. I genuinely felt the sting of discrimination — as if my presence and support didn’t matter at all.

I refuse to stay silent.
I will never return to Sweetwater Coffee after the way I was treated by the two girls working that day.

No one should ever feel this kind of disrespect or racial bias — especially in a place they’ve supported and shown kindness to.

For how slow and expensive this place is I would think they would get my order right. The last three times I’ve visited Either my food or drink is wrong and of course I don’t find out until I drive away cause the food is wrapped. While the drink and food are good, I never get what I pay for

I come here almost every morning for a tea, and there’s a man who I assume is the owner who sits outside and he’s there every day I come. I smile at him I say good morning and he looks at me as if I’m trespassing. I’ll spend my money elsewhere, I’m tired of his smug dirty looks. He’s like an assassin just preying on people coming into his establishment. Hard pass. Who needs a $6 iced tea with a side of creep? Not me.

I really enjoy getting Tea from here. The fact that a business kept tea and coffee lovers in mind when making a internet coffee and tea house was great! If you WFH you'd love the low vibe friendlieness of the place. CAN YOU GET ONE ON THE WEST SIDE OR DOWNTOWN!

I paid less for my lunch from a nearby restaurant than my small drink (an affagato with 2 syrups)
Genuinely shocked that this was $11 without tip. I went through the drive thru and it took 9 minutes to receive my order. I paid the tab before being made aware of the small size. Could be the economy but I am genuinely sticker shocked and disappointed in the lack of service/delay. It tastes great but I could literally make this at home for $2 (if that). :/

Extremely overpriced for a cup of tea. Environment was very loud and couldn’t carry on a conversation with only a third of the place having anybody in it.

Asking for a tip to make a overpriced cup of tea is ridiculous. I’ll never go back.

I ordered their French donuts the three pack, and it was all all right not quite what I had expected. The consistency and texture of it was slightly different from what you would think. We also ordered a separate time and in this case it was specifically for their beverages and those were a lot tastier. They were exactly what you would expect from a cold brew Thai teas, and that sort of selection. if offered to me, I would definitely accept it, but it’s not something I would crave or take the initiative of experiencing again myself. The prices were good. They were reasonable. Nothing that would break the bank and I do like the fact that they have a drive-through that was very handy. Their timing is reasonable as well not super fast, but not too slow either But the equipment that they use for drive-through may need an update. I had to repeat myself quite a few times, so either of the equipment is not working or their employees might be too preoccupied inside while taking the order.

Visited for the first time to try them out. My sanwhich was cooked to crisp, no one wants burnt cheese. My hash browns were vile, basically greasy soggy mush that tasted metallic. I should have just went to chic-fil-a, it probably would have been cheaper anyways and significantly faster.

Update: I went back and the girl behind the counter got everything fixed, refunded me, and made me a better sanwhich. Thank you!
