Nice restaurant with friendly service. The tacos were the standout.
The tortilla soup was way too hot (spicy for me). I also thought the queso was too spicy, but my friend liked it.

It’s a little different than your typical restaurant. You order at the counter or on your phone at the table.
Food was mediocre and nothing really amazing. I got the quesadilla while my friend got the al pastor chicken bowl. Unfortunately we didn’t finish either.

The cauliflower taco is AMAZING! Actually all of the food we ordered tasted fantastic. Staff was great except for the person who just left my margaritas sitting and ice melting after 15 minutes I went to find it sitting on the counter with no one watching it.
I did get a margarita and it was weak, and wonder if there was any tequila in it. Save your money and get margaritas somewhere else.

Overall, I enjoy Tocaya and the food and beverages they offer! I only gave the food a 4-stars because it seems they give less meat in the orders compared to what they used to.This particular visit I had the Strawberry Basil Agua Fresca and a Fajita Del Rey bowl with steak. The Agua Fresca was a little sweeter than I was expecting but still hit the spot! The Fajita Del Rey has been my go-to for a while now and is always delicious. As I mentioned above, my only feedback would be on the portion of the steak, it was a lot smaller that it seems to have been in the past.I also love that this location has a great mix of indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is covered well for summers in Scottsdale but it can still get really hot depending on the time of day that you visit.Anyway, I hope you enjoy should you decide to give this Tocaya a try!!

Excellent fresh food.
I only rated this place a 3 because of their app. The app is always difficult to order from. So much so that I’ve opted to go to eat at other restaurants several times. The food is delicious and service is always great. If you're ordering in-person it’s easy, but the app payment method is always experiencing system issues. Today it kept telling me my cvv code was incorrect. Deleted the saved card and re added it and it worked but not after a lot of attempts. Sometimes it’s adding food to cart. No matter what it’s always something. Technically it’s just frustrating. Wish they allowed Apple Pay solves the problem of saving cards into their system.

I'll admit, I am *not* a fan of restaurants where you order at the counter and then take a little number to the table and wait for it to be brought to you. If the menu is the least bit complicated then it makes ordering like this difficult, especially for first time visitors. Fortunately the gal at the counter was helpful and knew her menu. That aside, the food was REALLY good. I ordered the Street Corn En Fuego, served as the menu suggested except for sauce on the side. They accidentally put 'some' sauce on the dish before they noticed that it was to come on the side. Boy, am I glad I didn't get it all on the dish. That little bit I got was more than plenty. I do think I would have enjoyed it more without the sauce at all (sure, I should have probably chosen something else, but I was overwhelmed at the menu and hated that someone may be in line behind me).The hubs ordered a taco combo (I missed the 'what' because I was trying to concentrate on the menu). The combo comes with chips and guac, they allowed him to get both tortilla chips and plantain chips. The chips and guac was the best part of the meal. SERIOUSLY that was amazing. The plantain chips were fried absolutely perfectly and the tortilla chips had just the right amount of sale on them. I'd go back just for that alone. If I were to grade this on food alone, I'd easily give it 4 stars. I downgraded to 3 because:1. The counter order style2. They forgot to notice that I wanted the sauce on the side3. Tables outside still had dishes, glasses, and trash on them (and the same tables had the same trash when we left) - and, yes, there were birds dining on the dishes(they really weren't that busy, we arrived at the end of their lunch rush and one of, I think, two tables when we left)Not included in this visit's score, but I want to mention because it's the only reason we went - last time my husband met a coworker here and they messed up one of the orders (a vegetarian ordered a veg meal and it came with fish - and he took a bite out of it; needless to say, it ruined his entire meal, even after it was replaced w the correct order). They received gift cards to come back and try the place again, which is why we were there yesterday. They've got a good menu of food for everyone in your party - including gluten or dairy free and vegetarian. If they can get their orders straight, and clean up after patrons, I'd be willing to overlook the counter style of ordering. The food really WAS good!

Website kept glitching when I ordered pick-up, not letting me add a coupon for Burrito Day to my order. I figured I could show them in person and it would be taken care of.. wrong. Management was rude and unwilling to fulfill the reward of chips/guac, even after I proved my order is linked to my rewards account, and a screenshot showing the glitch. I hope their manager can be replaced soon
