I didn't know ice cream could taste this bland. The whole shop looks like no one put any effort into it. The signs with the list of flavors is a mix of teenage boy hand writing and laminated labels. The menu a bit is confusing - why are there so many categories of sundaes. Service was fine but forgettable. Unfortunately, our experience was anything but incredible.

my review is entirely about the integrity of this business. my sister and I had pulled in to Toms to sit down with our newborn babies and check out their menu. my husband is a bit of an ice cream connoisseur and I thought he would love to try this place. as I was sitting outside nursing my baby and looking at their menu, someone came and kicked me out of the seating area, assuming we weren't paying customers. Immediately we decided to step out from the shop and not give them our business. Moments later a very tall young man and his girlfriend sat in our seats. clearly on the wait for the neighboring restaurant and not ordering food from there and the employee/ owner was too cowardly to kick the big man out but told the nursing women with infants to leave. The selective 86-ing of public outdoor waiting space where multiple other individuals were seated - only the mothers with young babies in there arms were asked to leave. An ice cream business is catered toward children. this is very telling and we will avoid this place at all costs.

Don't understand all the negative reviews, we loved it! Shared a PB cup sundae and they lived up to their name

Really good ice cream. Cotten candy is really good. So is the Nutella marshmallow. The workers are really nice and talkative. Smells really good and is a nice place.

Unfortunately my ice cream was just plain bad (like expired dollar store ice cream) to the point that I would not have eaten it even if it were free. Maybe they had a bad batch but I left very disappointed, especially since service was not so good either

I came here since it looks like a new place and I enjoy trying new places. The inside of the shop looks retro and modern as the same time. The menu is confusing to me in trying to figure out what is what. The employee didn't really seem to know much either. We ended up ordering the rocky road and it didn't even include everything it was supposed to. For example, where's the marshmallows? That's a huge staple of rocky road. Of course this wasn't noticed until after getting to the car. Who knows what else was missing but it didn't have much of anything. Just ice cream, peanuts and we were asked if we wanted whipped cream and a cherry. The ice cream flavors are basic and in large tubs, e.g. mass produced/bought. It wasn't special. The random display cases of packaged little Debbie treats was an interesting touch too. Prices were missing for items, including the advertised edible cookie dough. The prices are high in my opinion for what you get. I unfortunately wouldn't return especially since our order wasn't done correctly and was missing toppings.

Walked in at about 9:42 pm, closing time of 10pm, politely asked if they were still serving. They said they were still but only for scoops, no Milkshakes and no offer of any other products but we understood it was a bit late to come in but his demeanor was just off. Service would have bought itself some points had they openly mentioned that the ice cream they are currently serving is Thrifty ice cream and not the advertised Hershey's, the product that makes Tom's Ice Cream so incredible right? The reason we drove out of our way and probably past the Thrifty ice cream shop as well as other local shops, just to try Tom's to not even be greeted, think it shows why the place was empty compared to Jeni's around the corner that had a line last time I was in the area late. Tom's should make this right as this is quite akin to false advertisement...

I was staying at a nearby hotel and had a craving so searched for high rates ice cream places in the area. Toms was the highest rated and was still open. I got there abt about 40 mins before close so I recognize somethings might have been out but this was ridiculous. When i entered it definitely looked like they were well into cleaning for the evening. The server came from the back and I motioned towards a listing of soft serve flavors that were written on a board. i asked for the Chocolate Almond only to find out it was gone...actually they were all gone. I finally chose a hard ice cream with a topping and asked for the chocolate hard coat only yo be met with "its all gone"....I prefersoft serve but finally just went with a chocolate malted crunch and the flavor was just blah... the cheapest ice cream at a grocery store tasted better. I'm definitely not sure why it has such high ratings because it definitely did not live up to the hype.

This place has amazing flavors and really sweet employees. The scoops are huge and well worth the money. Tom loves to talk to people and tell stories.

A great ice cream shop in Old Town Scottsdale! I recently went here with a friend and got the edible Cookies and Cream edible Cookie Dough, which was fantastic. Tom's is one of the few (if only) places in the state that serves Hershey's Ice Cream (different from the chocolate company), a great ice cream brand. There are tons of options (including vegan) at reasonable prices. The service was fantastic and the ambiance is nice. I highly recommend Tom's for your next ice cream craving!

Don't fall for it! Tom's incredible ice cream is actually Hershey's ice cream...I should've realized this right away, but walked from ER delirious from not enough sleep. Broke two plastic spoons and was denied request for a metal spoon to eat 13 banana split sundae at a table, in the shop...Their are a bunch of great local places like shakes and cones, old place across from Grimaldi's in Old Town, plus Haagen Daz, etc..this place is simply a "never worth it" on multiple levels.
