The Village Coffee Roastery on Hayden and Via de Ventura in Scottsdale is an absolute hidden gem!
Tucked into the Mercado Shopping Plaza, this place has been around for about 30 years, and the current owner, Lisa, has lovingly run it for the last 20. They roast their own beans in house, craft their own pastries, and serve up an amazing breakfast menu. One highlight is their coffee rubbed short rib used in their breakfast burritos, which I’m definitely coming back to try!
Open 364 days a year (only closed on the 4th of July), they offer a welcoming atmosphere, a dog friendly patio, and cozy indoor seating.
The quality of their Ethiopian beans shines through. I had a quad shot breve, and the flavor was outstanding. The cronut was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and absolutely delicious.
With Lisa’s warm hospitality and the incredible offerings, this is a spot we can’t wait to revisit!

Delicious food, unique house coffee roasts (the Burundi blend is sooooo good 😋), and a friendly group of employees who clearly know how to run a well-oiled operation! Really nice ambiance as well — we’re digging the soft lighting and recess-tiled ceiling. We’ll be back for sure!

Ive been here 4 times now and its been a different experience every time. First time great. Second time “okay”. The last two times not good. But in case you do want to come, this is what you can expect. Only the owner and one other person seem to know the menu. You may have to ask them to heat up your food as they bring breakfast items cold (had to ask twice to get bagels toasted today and this has now happened to me twice). The eggs arent real eggs they are substutite, and the way they make the coffee will be different depending on who makes it. When the owner makes the food / coffee or is paying attention to her employees its good. When she isnt paying attention its simply not good. But the butter coffee has brought me back every time.

Was in town for an event and trying to find a craft coffee shop. It was very crowded and loud. That definitely impacted sitting in the shop. It wasn’t that relaxing, but the coffee was pretty good.

This little spot was hopping... kind of loud with the amount of people. A little too chilly to sit on the patio but they did have a nice one. The cortado was a good bitter. Service was quick and friendly. Didn't try the food but they did have some good looking stuff.

Great coffee, mediocre pastries (don’t take recommendations from the staff until they improve them).

I got a large caramel vanilla iced latte with cold foam and the Willis burrito - both were absolutely amazing and the cold foam was the best I’ve ever had ?♀️ currently trying not to down my entire latte in one sip.

The coffee was pretty good! It has a bit of a burnt taste to it, nothing too bad though. There are lots of flavor options as well. The service was alright as well. I got a cold brew and a red eye. It was pretty dark in the coffee shop itself, so it seems to be a calming place to study or get work done

We stopped for coffee near 10 and it was busy. They have real cups so if you stay you are not relegated to paper. It is a good thing. The food smelled very good but we did not eat.
