I wanted to pick up dinner after work today (9/29/2025) and this place is around a half hour away from my house during rush hour (5:30 pm). Started driving there. On the way, I called and waited several minutes on their automated line. Finally someone picked up and I asked to make a carry out order. The female host said ok, please hold. Several minutes later, she picked up again just to tell me that they got a rush an was no longer accepting carry out orders for the next hour. I was already halfway there, and ended up turning around. This could have been avoided had they initially told me they were not taking carry out orders, or make preparations for a foreseeable evening rush.

I recently enjoyed a delightful dinner with friends at Village Tavern in Scottsdale, AZ, after a productive day showing commercial buildings in Phoenix.

Upon arrival, the atmosphere was inviting, and while the hostess could have been a bit warmer, our server truly shone. I was initially impressed when she took our orders without writing anything down, and she flawlessly remembered everything!

My friends raved about their meals, and I was eager to share my experience as well:

Clam Chowder**: While I found it a bit rich and thick for my taste, the flavor was delightful, especially with a dash of Tabasco.

Fish and Chips**: The fries were tasty, but the fish could use a little enhancement to reach its full potential.

The standout of the evening was undoubtedly our server, who provided exceptional service throughout our meal.

Overall, my friends and I had a fantastic time, and I’m giving Village Tavern 4 stars, primarily for the outstanding service!

Meals were excellent. The seat level of the booth was a little higher than optimal but they didn't all look that way. The place was quite busy so our server seemed a little rushed but took care of us well. I would recommend it and would return.

Took 20 minutes to get a waiter to come by while everyone that came in after us had a drink and their order taken in the first 10 minutes. Food was sub par and cold which was not for me but if you like cold burgers…give this place a shot.

Absolutely love the Village Tavern!! So much good food and a variety as well. What I really enjoy about the Village Tavern is how great it is for family time and great food.

I personally love their Chicken Marsala! It comes with the most fresh green beans, and delicious mashed potatoes! The sauce is perfection each time! Another recommendation would be their meatloaf. The comfort of comfort food! Always delicious! They also have a variety of yummy desserts!

Everything I've ordered was top notch, however, I love good French onion soup. Not my favorite here. Hardly any onion in soup or French bread, but way too much cheese, too thick on top which was like eating rubber. That was the last time I'll order their French onion soup.

Our server, Art, blew us all away with his knowledge of the menu, the restaurant's history, and, in particular, his awesome familiarity with Oregon wines! He was compassionate, empathetic, and sympathetic (as I witnessed the delicate and thoughtful way he assisted a physically challenged gentleman in a nearby booth). Additionally, he treated us with patience and tolerance, affording us ample opportunity to delve into the vast menu. He was always polite and soft-spoken. Art was attentive without being intrusive. Art ensured that we thoroughly savored our elegant dining experience. That is to say nothing about the food and beverages portion of the evening. Art was so completely and totally engaging, that we almost forgot we were hungry and thirsty. My wife said her halibut was prepared the best she has ever tasted, not to mention that the fish itself was absolutely beyond compare. I myself reveled in the Blackened Chicken Alfredo; and, the balance and freshness of the spices was perfect. Our house guest and my daughter's soulmate, visiting from Japan, adored her Mediterranean Bowl. All three dishes were beautifully presented. The lovely evening was topped off with key lime pie, my absolute favorite, especially when made from scratch, accompanied by Dreyer's Vanilla Ice Cream. Finally, my wife and our beloved friend shared your scrumptious carrot cake!

Very consistent, always good food and service. The crowd tends to be on the older side but we still go for the food.
