We placed our orders very quickly, but expected to have some time enjoying our wine before being served. Our meals were served seemingly within 5 minutes. We were in and out within about 45 minutes, much to our chagrin.

Zinc Bistro is similar to other French Bistro concepts that we've tried in Houston, San Antonio, and Atlanta. The food is good, not great, and was generally too salty across the board. The beet salad was ridiculously large AND ridiculously priced at $20, but was a perfect amount split among 3 people. The appetizer was forgettable (because I don't even remember it now) and our entrees were fine. The steak frites was a letdown—the beef not that tender for what was purported to be prime—and the meat, while at the correct temperature was WAY over seasoned. The atmosphere was fantastic, but our server, while quite competent, irked us by suggesting a $166 bottle of wine when our $96 selection was “unavailable.” Demerits there. Would I return? MAYBE, for cocktails and a snack, but there are better choices not far away for less money. Pinard Wine Bar comes to mind...

We shared the Caesar salad which is definitely shareable and very good. I had the appetizer mussels for my main and had some left for takeaway. My husband had the crab omelet which was delicious and full of crab. For dessert, the chocolate mousse is well worth the half hour wait to make it! The French martinis were wonderful as well. Although it was noisy by the bar we were seated in the main dining room and was better suited to hold conversations. Staff was attentive and friendly. Definitely recommend.
Food is a little pricey but generally good. The service was very slow. We waiting awhile to get our drinks and the. sat for a good 10 minutes after we were done eating -with empty plates in front of us and no one came by to clear the plates. (Pet peeve of mine). Probably a staffing issue but it wasn't busy at that time so don't think that was the issue. Our server gave us the bill with no “thank you for coming tonight” or anything. Felt like he could care less if we were there or not. Also, I had put “anniversary” in the Open Table reservation where it asked for the reason for the reservation but nothing was said to us (I.e “happy anniversary!”) from any of the staff so don't know why the app bothers with that. Not a big deal, of course, but other restaurants that ask for that info, actually make note of it and acknowledge it.

We always have such a wonderful experience at zinc bistro! Their food is consistent, Service is attentive, the ambience is really lovely both inside and out. Their salumi chopped salad is out of this world as are the mussels. Don't forget the bread... Desserts are delicious as well. I highly recommend zinc bistro. They never disappoint!

This one time awhile ago we had a middle aged server @ZINC (outside) that was inattentive. She seemed apathetic. So we tolerated her and then wanted to order a desert that she told us took 20 minutes. But she disappeared for 12 minutes. I finally did see her: She was yuckin it up across the street with two of her gal-pals. Kacklin on, so self absorbed. I doubt if she is still there working. But I’ll never know.
