Redemption! 2 years ago we had a not great experience and haven't been back until at the urging of friends this week. We went Wednesday at Happy Hour had a great experience and will be back!
The tuna nachos are AMAZING! Party in your mouth is how the waitress described them and she was spot on! My husband had the meatloaf and I had spaghetti bolognese. Both dishes were very very good. Rascal Modern Diner is definitely a great choice!
The service was good and the wine list was also pretty good. The issue I have is I ordered the Ahi tuna nachos expecting a crisp, salty nacho covered with an ahi tuna blend on top. What I got was a beautiful Ahi tuna blend on top with very fresh tuna, wasabi dressing, avocado, and a fruit relish. The topping was delightful. When I bit into the nacho, however, I tasted sugar. I thought it was a mistake so I pointed it out to the waiter. He smiled and said the chef likes to try new things, it's not just sugar, but also cinnamon. I personally thought it was revolting. Yuck. I scraped the topping off and enjoyed that then left all of the sweet cinnamon nachos on the plate.
It's a really cute place and it seemed like it was going to be a great dinner....but it was a bit disappointing. My son's Waygu burger was very good, and the coleslaw looked super good but the latter had no flavor except mayo. I had the Wedgie salad. Colorless ‘baby' romaine leaves stacked on a narrow plate with some toppings and a bit of dressing, with a side of green goddess (which also unfortunately lacked flavor!). The lay out of the salad made it really hard to eat — it had to be cut up and the plate was very small; additionally it was overpriced. We split a crème brûlée...nice presentation but sadly it was not creamy and smooth (more like a flan). Hopefully with a few tweaks Rascal can be the diner it deserves to be!
ordered the chicken piccata and was the most amazing pasta dish! Pomegranate martinis were darn delish! We had a spectacular night here, highly recommend.
We tried the shrimp and grits, barbacoa. Both interesting and delicious. Nice portion size. We arrived early and were nearly the first ones there. By the time we left it was full. Would recommend a reservation to be sure of a table.
We had a great meal at Rascal. Has a diverse and interesting menu and all the food was great. The cocktails were also excellent and the flights of martinis and whiskeys made were cool option!
We thoroughly enjoyed the imaginative menu and creative cocktails. The restaurant was full and steady line waiting for tables. Our server handled everything well and made for a great dining experience
Great food and love the service! The food was hot and tasted great. Will definitely be coming back again.
The food was excellent. We each had the prime rib Christmas special. The waiter was pleasant but not as attentive as we would have liked. It was busy, however.

Fish tacos are great! Also the sides - steamed carrots, green beans & garlic. And the Blueberry Cobbler - delish!
They need a runner for food and short staffed, but understand it was a holiday. Still would try again due to the friendly staff.
Great menu with many choices that make it a hard decision to pick a meal. I wanted something lighter and chose the ahi tuna nachos that were beyond delicious. The flavors melded together so perfectly. My husband had the halibut and was equally delighted with his choice. Will go back for sure to try some other dishes or more likely get the nachos again!
Everything we ordered was very good. The grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup were amazing!
Great casual place. The food is wonderful a great value. Try the blueberry cobbler !!!!
