No longer Sweethearts it is now called Monicas Cafe. Nice place to eat. Only open until 2pm so mainly breakfast and lunch.
This place has horrible customer service. Walked in and was not greeted by the 4 girls who saw us and made eye contact. We stood there for 10 minutes and were completely ignored. Can’t say how the food was because we left. I won’t spend money at a place that can’t at least say hello and let customers know that they will be right with you at the very least. Worst customer service I’ve experienced on the mountain.
We came at 10:00 August 10th for breakfast. We were seated promptly but after waiting 10 minutes we had not received a menu. A couple that came in just after us also hadn’t been helped and just walked out. We begin to think they just forgot about us as there was no attempt to let us know they would be with us shortly. There seemed to be only one waitress working. I wanted to like this place and support local business but this was the third time I tried this place with very poor service. I don’t think I’ll be coming back and unless you are very patient while hungry I wouldn’t recommend this place.
Waited almost an hour after being sat. I ordered biscuit and gravy with hashbrown. Gravy was like water. Biscuit was dry and overcooked. Oil from the hashbrown was sitting on the gravy. My friend ordered a Monti Christo and the ham was gray and the French toast was undercooked. We returned the food and was still graciously charged for the drinks after such a horrible experience. Never have I had such horrible service and food. Very unexpected from a place in town with such great reviews.
Mom, Sister and I went to have lunch before having to be elsewhere by 2. We had 1.5 hours to order, eat and leave on time. Apparently our waitress had to step out for some kind of emergency. Our order was never turned in. We waited, waited and waited. We were asked if a specific order was ours and we stated no. So it was discovered the kitchen never got our order. So they were told we would have to have it to go as there was really not going to be enough time to rush eat in 10 mins. It came out on plates. Had also asked for mayo for two of the sandwiches. Never got it and had to ask again. Owner/Mgr said order would 50% off. Which it was after having to tell new waitress, out of three different ones that came over at various times, that is what we were told. So now mom and I have leftover meal as no time but to eat a few bites. She had a wrap which is ok cold but is soggy. I have a Swiss mushroom burger that has to be reheated, the bun is soggy with falling apart soggy onion rings. I may try to reheat but not sure. Will we go back? Maybe but I will be looking for excellent service.
I really wanted to give 5 stars. Food was "ok". Ordered fish sandwich and buns were burned, fries were so soggy, and cinnamon roll was horrible. Fresh is always best when it comes to cinnamon rolls not frozen and then thawed. It was so dence. Service was great though
I love this place ! The omelette was so good I couldn’t have made it better myself ( and that’s saying allot ) I had my own restaurant years ago ! Less line and better food than Show Low cafe .
This is the cutest 50’s diner ever. It is under new owner and the changes are the best ever. They went with a dining room with old car memorabilia, motorcycle old pictures. To top it off there is mannequin dressed with poodle skirt, and another mannequin in a racing outfit. If your in the area Show Low stop in and experience going back in time. I almost forgot the 50’s music is fun.
Have eaten at Sweetheart through the years since it was first opened on Deuce of Clubs. Always great atmosphere and friendly staff. Today, had the best omelet I've had ever, anywhere on the mountain. The home fries I had today are the best tasting I've had as well. Wasn't the usual ho-hum breakfast food as other places that have been around for a while.
Food was good. A bit more pricey than I expected. The service was super slow. We had 3 kids with us and it was tough to keep them calm and occupied while they waited to order then for the food to come out.
Restaurantji Recommends
I had enjoyed previously so vrought my husband about 4 months later his 1st experience. We ordered them day there 1 hour 30 minutes waitress never came back by and never got served. It was unreal
Not only is this one of the cutest little places to visit, but the food and customer service is top notch. Classic dinner food with modern twist and healthy servings. I highly recommend! Especially if you have a sweetheart to bring!
First time trying Seeetheart Cafe and absolutely loved it! Very cute place and it was packed for Thursday lunch!Customer service was great Charlie was so sweet and very efficient and the food was delicious! We got a short stack of pancakes which was huge and a bacon cheese burger with onion rings which was so good we will definitely be back soon!
This is honestly some of the worst food I've had-- or, maybe not worst, but there's just nothing Special about it. There's nothing that's enticing me to come back. Plus, there was a hair in my food.
Have eaten there 3 times since change of ownership hoping they would get better as they settled in. The charm is gone and I guess I can live without that if the food is good; the service isn't as good and I must say I miss that; but the food isn't as good. Unfortunately it is inconsistent. When we eat there as a couple or with friends, one of us may get a great tasting item but other item(s) on the plate, not so much. Others say there food is so so. Used to be consistently good food and service. I hate to write any bad reviews to restaurants on the mountain because we don't want to lose any. Unfortunately, it seems they let go all of the original staff and replaced them with maybe those with less expertise. Or maybe financial constraints have impacted the quality. Either way, it is one restaurant that formerly was our favorite for breakfast and we always brought our visiting guests here. We have decided not to return again.
