I’ve always loved Pie Bar and make it a point to stop by every time I’m in Strawberry. I’ve told so many people how good the food is and have always recommended it to friends and family.
However, my visit today was really disappointing. I stopped in while in Pine for an event, and when I asked the cashier to double-bag my order since I was driving two hours back to Phoenix, she replied in a mocking tone, “And what, are you riding a bike or something?” When I explained it was just a long drive, she looked at her coworker as if to make fun of me.
My friend, who had ordered just before me, also noticed and commented on how distasteful the cashier’s response was. It was unnecessary and rude — definitely not the kind of service I’ve come to expect here. Sadly, I no longer plan to recommend Pie Bar or stop by in the future.

Ok, if u want a great Empenada and Cherry pie, this is the place to go. Try to go non peak times to avoid the long wait lines. Service is electric and friendly.

If you are in the Strawberry or Pine are a this is definitely worth the stop. These empanadas were amazing, and you could just tell they were homemade.
If I could give it a 6/5 stars I would.

Overpriced by far in terms of empanadas, which is a very generous term here. Dry filling and underwhelming amount of seasoning. Not really close to authentic for the price per 'empanada'. Pie was dry as well unfortunately, not made in house either.
Fun little place with excellent sweet and savory empanadas. I had the mountain mamma and the pecan pie empanadas. Both tasted fabulous. I thought it was interesting that it takes 3 days for them to make their empanadas. A must-do if you're anywhere near Strawberry, AZ!
