The lunch specials are fantastic. We have literally never had anything bad there for lunch or dinner.

I've been going to the original location for years. I'm so glad they opened up in the neighborhood. The food and margaritas are amazing!

We brought my Mom here for a birthday lunch. She enjoyed it. The food we had was on the American side of Tex Mex, or not very spicy. I had 2 fish tacos and they were tasty. The coating on the mild tasting fish was nicely crispy. It came with shredded cabbage, sauce and some tomatoes. One would have made a good light lunch because they were a generous size. My dining companions had enchiladas but thought they were on the mild side as far as heat and flavor. It would be a good option for folks who aren't craving spicy food. Our server Uriel was very pleasant and efficient. We told them it was Mom's birthday and she got a dessert of ice cream, chocolate sauce and a candle which was a happy surprise. The atmosphere was casual and it's an attractive place with plenty of seating. Overall it was a nice lunch with pretty basic Mexican food.
Kid-friendliness: They have a pretty limited kids menu but the food isn't terribly spicy so kids would like it. The servings would be enough to share among kids. The ala carte options would be good too. It's an older crowd so they might not be too tolerant of young kids
Wheelchair accessibility: Both the parking and restaurant are wheelchair accessible.

Wow! Don Ruben's lived up to its reputation of being the best Mexican restaurant in my area. We found everything to be delicious and freshly made. Even the salsa is made in-house. We'll be back many times.

First time coming here, I've heard alot about this place, that it was a must try.
My Mom ordered the Red Chili Burrito with rice & beans. And she liked the red chili, had good seasoning & tenderness, she liked the beans alot. But we both agree that the rice was dry and didn't have any salt.
I ordered the Fundido Loco plate.
At first the chicken was dry, but when I got to the cream cheese and jalapeño cheese it was better & had good flavor. I agree the beans were really good. I also liked the chunky salsa that came with the chips.
Our food came right away, which led me to believe they make chicken burritos and either freeze them or refrigerate them, then fry them per order. Which would explain why the chicken was dry and didn't have a fresh cooked taste.
Overall I'd go back to maybe try the chorizo, is it make in house or bought from a butcher or store?
I do want to offer a bit of advice... Lower your music!!!
The Christian music was a lovely touch, but I couldn't hear my Mom taking majority of the time. Our customers next to us mentioned the same thing. Most people like to have conversations while they share a meal together.
