State 48 feels like three great bars and restaurants in one. There’s a cozy, tucked-away bar hidden behind the barrels with premium cocktails, a spacious indoor dining area connected to an indoor/outdoor bar, and a dog- and kid-friendly patio on the other side. We tried two of the three spaces and loved both.
Outside, we ordered the Nachos, Rodeo Burger, Cubano Burger, a Beyond Rodeo Burger (no bacon), and a Beyond Royal with Cheese, each served with crispy beer-battered fries. Everything was delicious. Vegetarian tip: you can swap any burger for a Beyond patty for a small upcharge, which is a wonderful choice.
In the speakeasy-style bar behind the barrels, we enjoyed specialty cocktails that were just as impressive.
The staff in both sections—and even the people and pups on the patio—were friendly and welcoming.
I’d definitely come back to State 48.

Bikers for Boobies event. Support Breast cancer ride. This place should not have been a stop on this incredible ride. They did nothing to support. No parking for motorcycles and no staff. Poor choice Bikers 4 Boobies, take this place off your ride for next year

My girlfriend and I were excited to try this place as a change of pace from our usual spot(O.H.S.O), We were promptly seated and eager to enjoy the evening. Unfortunately, things took a turn. Despite the fact that others around us were being served, we were completely ignored. The waiter even walked past us multiple times, making eye contact, but didn’t acknowledge us. After 25 minutes of waiting with no service, we decided to leave. It was a huge letdown, especially given how much we were looking forward to our visit.

Went in to the bar area and sat for 10 minutes and was never waited on. Terrible! Got up and walked out.

Allie has had the longest running tenure here. And I can say without a doubt she’s been the best by far over the last 5 years. Always on point and friendly.., doesn’t hurt that she’s also very purdy. She will be missed. Going to the Copper Blues tomorrow… if you can, pay her a visit.

Good lunch here in Surprise. Did a flight of 5 beers. All tasty. Mango is probably my favorite. The White Pizza was very tasty. Would definitely come back.

My adult son and I had a positive experience at State 48. We were seated in the quieter “speakeasy” part of the restaurant during happy hour on a week night. Their on-site-made brews were only $4 each and hit the spot. My son ordered a BLT with a fried egg inside, and I ordered the mushroom truffle burger. We both were very happy with our meals. Also, the service was excellent. The restaurant is located in a high traffic area, but we did manage to get parked with no issues. All in all, no complaints and we’ll be back.
