Great spot for take out and surprisingly not overly sweet. I wish I had one closer to home cause this place is GREAT for bulking season.

Thanks for your response. I appreciate the explanation about the incentive program and the wage structure at Kainoa's. As a customer, I've seen instances where staff are told to be clocked out during slower periods, regardless of how long, but are required to stay on-site in case it gets busier. This doesn’t seem fair or practical for the employees or the business.

I've also noticed a pattern in reviews where there's a defensive reaction to constructive feedback. Being open to criticism can be a great way for any business to improve and grow.

Regarding the incentives like offering free food to employees, it's thoughtful but might not fully address the bigger issues like fair compensation and working conditions. Tips are meant to go directly to the staff as part of their earnings.

I hope you see these comments as constructive suggestions aimed at helping Kainoa’s continue to succeed. Thanks again for taking the time to consider this feedback. 😊

One of my favorite places to go, sadly inconsistent the menus are hard to read and if you don’t quite pronounce the names on the menu right they can be a little condescending and unhelpful about what you want got the wrong order today the fries were cold and the manager seemed more interested is picking up his truck from the ford dealership then being helpful

As a person who has lived in Hawaii I enjoy good Hawaiian food. This was ok....but nothing too exciting! Service was quick and good...food was a bit disappointing! I had chicken katsu...a bit boring. Will try again with another dish!

Every time I go through the drive thru, it takes forever and they still forget something in my order. The food is always hard, cold, and not well put together. The employees are slow and not considerate of customers at all. Not sure if it’s a management issue or what, but the Rexburg Kainoas is not like this at all. I worked at the Kainoas in Rexburg and the owners were there almost all the time. i have never seen the owner of the Thatcher Kainoas there at all.

This place has gone down hill. I don’t know if it’s who they choose to hire or what. I have been here many times before the remodel. I came in today and ordered the regular fish tacos. When the girl brought them out I said thank you. She didn’t respond at all. But I saw her bring food to others that said thank you and she responded with you’re welcome. Normally this place and the food is amazing, today the shells were hard like they had been sitting in the warmer for a while. I took them back and told them the problem. I see they are having a discussion about it and a few minutes later a young lady comes out with two containers one with my original food the other with fresh tortillas. She tells me that they wouldn’t replace it but here are some new tortillas. So I had to scoop everything out of the old ones into the new tortillas. Any other restaurants would have remade my meal.

Personally, I think this place is a little over hyped. However, the food isn't bad. It isn't for everyone but has some good options on the menu.

This is the place to be on Saturday night! The dinning room was packed, the drive thru had a line, and plenty of to go orders.
Good Lord! The pork! I was given two sauces; one tomatillo, delicious, and a sweet vinaigrette the woman said was really good with the pork, she spoke truth!
Small town vibe, without being naive.
The 2.5 hr drive from PHX was worth it! I’ll be back to try the smoothies! I hear they are named after some very special kids!

Parking: You might have to park a cross the street, still plenty of parking.

Kid-friendliness: They have high chairs.

Oh the tacos look so good... If only they were in traditional corn tortillas... Chef's kiss.

I waited at the drive through window for 20minutes and watched 5 groups of people walk-in and get their orders taken at the register and get there drinks then some girl walks up and asked if we have been helped yet and I told her no we have been waiting here for 20mins and she said oh sorry I just got here and the other girl was by herself every one raves about the one in Idaho but they really need to get there crap together in Thatcher because it is a literal crap show.

We ate lunch here while passing through, but the food was extremely disappointing. The chicken katsu, recommended by the girl at the counter, couldn’t have been fresh. The chicken was rough and chewy and the breading fell right off. The beef bulgogi was dry and chewy as well. We didn’t eat more than a few bites of either. My wrap was decent with a tasty slaw and fresh avocado, which at least masked how bad the chicken was. Rice and mac salad were fine. I did enjoy my smoothie and we liked the sauces. I didn’t have the highest expectations to start, but unfortunately I’d much rather stop at any fast food place in town if passing through again.
