By far the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. Very cold waitress. Not a single other customer inside the entire restaurant while we were there. But it took around 40 minutes to get our food.
Gave us water in these small weird saucers instead of cups. It looked like a water dish for a small cat. Ordered the flatbread and calamari taco. Very dry. Didn’t come with any sauce. When I asked if I could get a side of sauce I was told the only sauce/dips they carry in the restaurant/kitchen are ranch and chipotle.
Calls itself a Mexican restaurant but the menu doesn’t have any Mexican style food on it at all. Very bland and dry.
Expensive for how small it was. Cheese on flatbread tastes like cheese whiz and it wasn’t melted. Food arrived cold. Very loud rap music blasting the entire time. Bathroom was very dirty. Aesthetically trying too hard to look grunge and edgey.

The atmosphere and service at La Reina were good and drinks were amazing but I have to say the food lacked in flavour and the guacamole was store bought. A bit disappointing…

My spouse and I are on a current seven restaurants in seven days staycation in Abbotsford, eating dinner at seven restaurants we've never eaten at previously.

La Reina is number two on day two of our list. We had some trepidation due to some middling reviews online, but if there were any problems before, they've fixed them.

We attended the eatery at about 2:30 pm on a Sunday between the lunch and dinner rushes.

The seating inside the restaurant is limited, but we had no idea they had a large covered patio seating area out back.

We had great wine, appies, mains, and dessert. We recommend you try it out. You won't be disappointed.

The street corn, tacos and churros were especially exquisite.

Definitely not your typical Mexican restaurant is more like a modern cantina kind of concept and is really nice.
I ordered tacos and they were all delicious.
I don’t drink alcohol and they don’t seem to have many non alcoholic options.l but other than that is worth it to come over and try it out for yourself.

Food: the fried burrito, loaded tater tots, tacos are good conceptually but need more flavour.

Edit: The drinks were great.

Price: $6-20
Environment: it’s a tattoo-art-sugar-skull-tequila-bar inspired. Pop music was playing instead of Mexican
Parking: parking is downtown Abbotsford, meaning, when it’s busy there’s no parking or it’s completely empty
Service: was subpar, non-conversational, ambivalent

Ended up paying $50+ for a plate of nachos which is just outrageous. I don't understand how they change that much extra for stuff they add to nachos that already cost $30.

The meals we ordered were below average, lacking authentic flavor profiles.

The Al Pastor tacos did not have pineapples and needed a little bit more cilantros. $6 for a taco is insane.

The Gringo nachos had shredded beef WITHOUT umami taste at all and the tortilla chips were Tostitos. The guacamole dip was a bit disappointing in terms of flavor and texture. $23 for the nachos. Additional $6 if you want chicken, beef or pork

The beef taco flatbread was good however.

The service was good. However, if you are looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant, I believe there are other places beside this one.

Loud but great music. Food is greatly overpriced for the quality and small quantity.

So glad to have a spot like this in Abbotsford. The tacos are fantastic!! I'm biased about the Cod's Plan, they're my favorite! The service is always great, Ashley is awesome! Love the vibe, great Playlist! There are other options for Mexican food in Abbotsford but the food mediocre and they have no atmosphere. La Reina with it's edgy decor and great Playlist, gets my business every time I want to have a great night with friends with great food and drinks in a cool spot. Keep doing what you're doing guys!!
