Best Seafood Chowder I've ever had. Highly recommend. I did not however, like having to get up and order my own meal and pay as I went *started with wine while deciding what to order, wasn't sure about dessert, so had to go up for a 3rd time to order and pay* I probably wouldn't go for dinner again as I want to be served when I go out for dinner, but will go for lunch, just for the chowder alone. The staff was very helpful and they also didn't seem comfortable with the system and were apologetic.

Love this place. Everything is delicious and the atmosphere is lovely.
The food itself was very good - it’s improved since they first opened, now they are hitting their stride. I had the risotto which was lovely and hubby had the delicious lamb shank.
The restaurant has such great potential but it’s being missed. Summer season will always keep it busy especially with the patio and amazing views. They are busy here but it lacks connection. The old Salmon Point had an ambience and warmth, which drew people in, even though the food was average. Locals got to know the staff, could sit by the fireplace and feel welcomed. This new building is stunning but lacks that invitation. Without any soft furnishings or acoustic panels it sounds and looks like a canteen, which is accentuated by the ordering system. The furniture is sleek but not big on comfort. It makes you feel like they want you in and out as fast as possible with minimal interaction.
While this type of service may reduce staff costs it really diminishes the customer experience. They have a call button on the table in case you do need an element of service and now there’s a QR code to order and pay by app which creates further distance.
Can’t fault the food but there’s no connection
The pizza was delicious. Clams were amazing, done perfectly. The Sunday tea was thoroughly enjoyed. Loved the musician. The waitress was bang on for everything. Everyone was friendly and professional. We will be back. Would recommend for food, seating, ocean view, ambiance.

Went today for the High Tea! Was AMAZING! Enjoyed every bite. The just-made biscuits with the clotted cream and raspberry jam were my favourite! But every item was so, so good! The staff were lovely, the view stunning, an absolutely wonderful experience! We were thrilled to meet Ryan, the chef extraordinaire, and wish him continued success! We will most certainly be back and introduce our family and friends to not only the High Tea but also the mouth watering menu. Thank you Ryan and staff for a lovely afternoon!

Mattone used to be great when it was in the Willow point location. However, since moving into the salmon point location, it’s been nothing but disappointing. The building is lovely, but doesn’t match the quality of service/food provided. You pay before you eat, and every time I’ve been, the food has been awful, bordering on inedible.
Don’t waste your time or money.

Fast service and friendly experienced staff. The food was spectacular with reasonable pricing. Had my anniversary here and it was great! Will go again.
Fantastic experience.
The food was amazing and loved the atmosphere. Ordering system they have in place works fantastic even when we had to use the call button a few times response time was quick.
10/10 will be back for sure next time we are in town.

The food is delicious and the vibe is nice. It's a beautiful location with a nice big open dining area. I'm Italian and I am picky, but this place is really good. We also love that we can order with our phones and prepay. Less time waiting to order or waiting for a bill. It makes things super easy and fast (it's not a cafeteria - as some other grumps say - you order food using a QR code to a website and then they bring it to your table). Food always comes out fast and drinks are delivered quickly too. It's my favourite place to go for dinner out.

Absolutely beautiful location and venue. Lovely staff, good food. They have a whole kids menu/high chairs and kids eat free promo on which was amazing but completely shocking that they have NO CHANGE TABLE ..? 3 stars for service for this reason alone. Changing my babe on the bathroom floor was not pleasant (especially for a new mover who doesn't stay still easily). My only other option was going out to the car (cold and rainy outside) or changing her in the little bench at the front door LOL. Figured they didn't want a poopy diaper being changed here 😆

We were camping at Salmon Point RV Resort and decided to come here for dinner on our last night at the campground. The butternut squash ravioli was delicious. I told the staff that it took everything in me not to lick the plate! The ocean views were incredible and the interior of the restaurant was spotless and modern. We are so glad we went!
While some reviewers have mentioned not loving the ordering system, I actually found it very efficient. It’s a style you often see in larger cities, so it might just be new to some visitors. If you’re comfortable using a QR code and your phone, it’s a breeze. And if you’re not particularly phone-savvy, there are plenty of friendly staff happy to help. Our food arrived quickly and was excellent across the board.
The only thing I’d mention is that they are so popular it’s best to book your reservation a couple days in advance. We left it too late at had to catch a later reservation than desired.

Arrived at 7:30 pm on a Thursday evening and were turned away (as well as the party of 6 in front of us in line). We were told that they weren’t taking any more walk ins for the evening.
Did not make a welcome 1st impression, and both our party and the one in front of us agreed that we will not be returning.
They probably turned away at least $500 worth of business between the two parties. Speaking with numerous other locals after our experience, and it sounds like many other patrons have left the restaurant feeling the same way.
Save yourself the drive, and go somewhere else that doesn’t close as early and makes you feel like your business is appreciated. Shelter Point Distillery makes amazing cocktails and welcomes walk ins if you are looking for a drink in the area.
