I only gave 3 stars for the food because even though my blackened chicken was amazing as the veggies were, the mashed potatoes were cold and not creamy.
The service was amazing as well!!

We were passing by and decided to give it a try.. they offered us a table and then 10 min we were waiting for a waitress to come to take an order.. obviously the lady assigning tables did not pass the message over.. despite that hickup, the rest of the service was good! a bit longer wait than expected for food (but we were hungry too!!) but the quality of food was great!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Hidden Gem with Breathtaking Views & Unforgettable Vibes!

The Tyee Pub at Painter’s Lodge is an absolute gem in Campbell River — a perfect blend of rustic West Coast charm, delicious food, and postcard-worthy views. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, this place is a must.

The setting is spectacular: perched right on the water, with panoramic views of Discovery Passage and Quadra Island. We visited at sunset and were completely in awe — the golden light shimmering over the water while fishing boats passed by was nothing short of magical.

The service was friendly, warm, and attentive without being intrusive. The staff made us feel genuinely welcome and even shared great local tips.

Now the food — wow! Their menu is fresh and satisfying. We tried the fish tacos and the crispy cauliflower bites, and both were spot on — flavourful, perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented. The drinks were equally impressive, especially their local beer selection and creative cocktails.

What makes the Tyee Pub truly stand out is the vibe: relaxed, cozy, and so connected to the natural beauty around it. Whether you’re out on the patio or inside near the fireplace, there’s a calming, down-to-earth atmosphere that just feels good.

Highly recommend this place for date night, weekend lunch, or just an evening out with friends and family. We’ll definitely be back — this place is a slice of West Coast heaven. 🌊🍻🌲

Define your polices and stick to them. I called ahead on a sunny Sunday to confirm that my small dog was permitted on the patio and that sunny space was available. I was told that it was not busy, lots of space and absolutely we could bring our dog if sitting outside. Drove all the way out there to have another patron on the patio say that her kids are afraid of dogs before my pet was even visible (she overheard me as I mentioned it to the waitress). We were told that the other patron’s concerns trumped us and our dog was not welcome.
Figure it out. Determine your policies and stick to them. I was mortified to be told by the waitress that we weren’t welcome, even after making the effort to confirm before heading out there. You wasted my time, and really embarrassed me.

We came here due to the fact that most restaurants in Campbell River are closed on Monday nights. I was cautious about their 3.4 star rating but felt it was a better choice than fast food. We were wrong. The menu was extremely limited and the prices were unbelievably expensive. We ordered our food and it came to us within 5-6 minutes which I thought was oddly quick. Once I took my first bite of the burger I realized why kitchen service was so fast. IT WAS MICROWAVED!! I can’t prove this but it seems to be the logical conclusion. This pub is probably one of the worst dining options in Campbell River, even below A&W. I’m giving 2 stars instead of 1 because our server was pleasant and the view is amazing.

We went to the Pub forced by the absence of the restaurant on Monday and Tuesday, for no apparent reason. Once seated we had to wait a geological hour before receiving dishes, despite everything, cold. The fried food is as heavy as the seals you can see from the windows (the only positive note is the view), the salmon is as dry as the desert and not to mention the appetizer, chips with a terrible sauce and frozen cheese.
Avoid if possible

Parking: Parking near the pub within the logde complex easily accessible on foot from the rooms

View is beautiful, we had a nice but inexperienced server who forgot to give us plates, cutlery, and napkins. The sea food platter was inedible, over cooked salmon, rubbery breaded calamari which was also advertised as “grilled squid” and the most foul smelling rubber clams. You would expect fresh sea food from a fishing lodge however everything here is re heated from being pre cooked frozen. Waste of money as drinks were also mediocre and expensive. Spent around $200 for the worst food i’d ever had, we left and ate at a different restaurant because we couldn’t eat the food. The only positive was the server who seemed to be embarrassed by the food.

Fabulous view, especially for outside tables. No local seafood. Menu was conventional, uninspired. Nice but a bit understaffed.

An empty plate is all you need to know, really. Food was great. The view was too. Lovely grounds. I can’t imagine staying at some generic comfort inn downtown instead of this place.

Went for the gorgeous waterfront view. They were very short staffed and offered a limited menu including a seafood chowder, spicy chicken burger and fish (ling cod) and chips. We asked about the chowder because it can vary depending on your expectations. The server assured Isherwood liked it and the cook confirmed from the bar that it’s “layered” whatever that means. So my husband ordered the $22 size. Our guest ordered the chicken burger not spicy. And I had the one piece fish and chips. The chowder was a huge disappointment - stone soup or prison soup were the descriptors used. Thin buttery onion grey broth with very little seafood and one slice of potato. Chicken burger came with several jalapeños but the f&chips was fine. Too much money spent on less than average food.

They were out of 30% of their memo items before dinner really started (5:30) Way short staffed. The server was great but was trying to look after way too many tables.

*Photos taken with an iPhone. The Tyee Pub is a definite stop if travelling through, or stopping in beautiful Campbell River .Located at the gorgeous Painters Lodge , on the North end of Campbell River as you exit highway 19 Northbound. ( 1625 McDonald road, Campbell River )Craving something from the Sea for lunch , we ordered the “Tyee Burger” and “Cod gyro your way”.The salmon was cooked to perfection , as in NOT over-done. Ask for extra napkins because it is a bit drippy ! Came with perfect lava hot fries. ( not the best pics of the burger )Cod gyro your way , also very good . Cod was cooked to perfection , NOT over-done. Only imperfection was that the pita was a little dry and hard .The service was outstanding ! The views , well the views are absolutely incredible. We sat inside only because there was a little rain coming down. We will be definitely sitting outside on the patio next time .Will stop here again if passing through . Definitely a 4.5⭐️ out of 5⭐️ experience .
