Not your typical busy street restaurant. It's a quiet little place. you blink, you miss it. Which would be a shame! Cause the family who run it are fabulous. The food is amazing, and the atmosphere is romantic and quaint. Highly recommend!!

Only reason I gave 4/5 was because there was only one veggie option. It was delicious and the rest of my meat eating family said it was their new fave restaurant in Castlegar. Great service and great food!

The little cafe in the same named Chameleon hotel ts not flash. But the chef (who also handles the hotel front desk and does the rooms...sfaff are hard to find) really knows her way around a piece of schnitzel. Given the usual size of this German favourite I usually share with my wife and did so this evening. But it was so good I could have handled the entire meal on my own. A nice selection of local/regional craft beers to accompany. And an apple crisp for desert - Perfect. The hotel... sadly not on the same level as the schnitzel. But that is another story.

This restaurant deserves a Michelin Star! Just as good or even better than the food I had in Germany. The Weisswurst is fantastic with this Jager gravy and spatzle. The schnitzel was flawless. And the chocolate mousse was like WOW! Thick... Creamy... Rich... With some alcohol in it.... I highly reccomend this restaurant! The apple crumble was good too.

This food brought back to childhood the borcht was magnificent. The fusion between the Russian and German food was most excellent. The owner Marina was so accommodating and friendly. The atmosphere and the decor of this restaurant was so homey and eclectic. I highly recommend eating here.

Absolutely fantastic! Best borscht I've had since my dad and he came right from Poland! The schnitzel was also authentic! I even bought borscht to bring back home with me to alberta!. I'm just sad she isn't local to me.

Truly delighted to find this restaurant after a long day of travel! We got takeout and ate in our motel room. The food is fantastic, brought us back to our trip to Germany 11 years ago. For a foodie, this is a Local gem!

Restaurant provides nice outside sitting area. Good European schnitzel and apple crumble. Not a cheap place but it is worth it.

So I chanced upon this place a couple of years ago. I’ve eaten at many of the finest restaurants in Vancouver but I was blown away by this one. Amazing food, cooked to order so plan to enjoy your meal. I have never felt the urge to review any restaurant but after dining here I felt compelled to do so. Didn’t do it back then but last week we ended up there again and were not disappointed. The schnitzels were cooked to perfection. The spaetzle and gravy to die for! The side vegetables were perfectly cooked and still crunchy. After our lunch we weren’t hungry the rest of the day! The chef was very hospitable and his wife who runs the front gave the best service. The restaurant closes Tuesday through Thursday so plan your trip to Castlegar on the days they open. I will come here again at the next opportunity.

Legit German food. Schnitzel was nice and crispy and the spätzle was tasty and authentic. Service was great and the food was piping hot! Ended dinner with the apple crisp and chocolate mousse, oh lord, worth it!
